Mahindra has started testing the all-new Scorpio in the Indian market. The heavily camouflaged model spotted on the roads looks completely different from the current version of the SUV. Well, there have been many speculative renderings of the Scorpio in the past. Here is one more that shows the front-end of the car.
The all-new Mahindra Scorpio will be launched in the Indian market in 2020. It will replace the current model in the market and will also meet with the new BNVSAP safety rules that will be implemented in the Indian market soon. The all-new Scorpio will be much bigger in size than the current version of the SUV and will also get powered by an all-new engine. This rendering by SRK Designs for IAB predicts how the front-end of the upcoming car will look like in real life.
The front-end of the upcoming Scorpio is predicted after carefully looking at the heavily camouflaged test mules. The SUV gets a large grille and chrome slats on it. There are large headlamps placed on either side of the grill while there are fog lamps placed at the conventional position lower at the bumper.
It should be noted that often the test mules in such early stages use faux parts or parts from other vehicles. Since the test mule looks like it is a very early stage of testing, the final production version of the Scorpio can be quite different from this.
From the side, the spy pictures show that the all-new Scorpio gets a kink on the window line towards the end and the last window is also much bigger in size than the current version. It can translate well into forward facing last row seats in the Scorpio. Since the SUV will grow in size, we can also expect to go a segment-higher to compete with the like of Tata Harrier in the Indian market. However, we are not sure how much of an increase in the price will happen. Other changes will be expected in the interior of the all-new Scorpio including an all-new infotainment system, new seats, much plusher cabin and more such features.
Mahindra is also working on the all-new engine for future Mahindra vehicles. The next-generation Mahindra Scorpio will get powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that is expected to generate around 160-170 Bhp of maximum power. Such a high powered engine on a ladder-frame make the Scorpio quite capable off-the-road too.
Mahindra is also expected to use the automatic transmission with the all-new engine alongside the standard 6-speed manual transmission. The all-new Mahindra Scorpio is expected to be launched in early 2020 with the production version being showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
