It should be noted that the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza loses the tax benefits because of the bigger capacity 1.5-litre petrol engine. This is the same 1.5-litre petrol engine that powers the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Ciaz in the Indian market. The engine produces a maximum power of 104 Bhp and peak torque of 138 Nm. Maruti Suzuki offers a 5-speed manual transmission with the car and there’s a choice of a 4-speed automatic transmission too. The automatic variants of the Vitara Brezza will also offer the SHVS Smart Hybrid system and offer a higher fuel efficiency than the petrol models.
As per Maruti Suzuki, the manual variants of the Vitara Brezza return a maximum of 17.03 km/l and the automatic transmission variants offer a maximum of 18.06 km/l. These figures are tested by ARAI. The SHVS system available with the automatic variants comprises of an on-board battery that and it also utilises the brake energy regeneration. The system works by taking off the load from the alternator, which ensures a lower fuel consumption. While accelerating hard, the system plays a role by supporting the engine, which reduces emission and fuel consumption.
Speaking at the launch of all-new Vitara Brezza, Mr Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said,
“Our customers are evolving and so are their aspirations. Vitara Brezza has evolved to become a highly powerful brand over the past 4 years. Keeping up with its strong, urban and premium appeal, the all-new Vitara Brezza is bolder, sportier and more powerful. We are confident that the all-new Vitara Brezza will take forward the rich legacy of its predecessor with overwhelming customer response.”
With the new facelifted version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, there are new dual-tone colour options available. There are new Sizzling Red with Midnight Black roof, Torque Blue with Midnight Black and Granite Grey with Autumn Orange roof. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza takes on the rivals like Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon in the Indian market. It is currently the only petrol-only model in the segment. In the past, Maruti Suzuki sold over 5 lakh units of the Vitara Brezza since its launch four years ago. It is the segment-leader and is expected to maintain that even with the new petrol-only engine.
