As we all know that Mahindra is working on a new generation of Scorpio. The Scorpio will now look more mature and grown-up than the current one. It will be more equipped and will get a more premium interior that will be better built.
So far, no one has been able to get a proper glimpse of how the new Scorpio will look. This has led to various renders that have been made by various websites. Mahindra has also not shown any concept or sketches till now for the Scorpio. So, the renders help us get an idea that how the new SUV might look like when it is launched in the Indian market.
The first render has been done by us which is based on the spy shot. We can see that Mahindra’s 6 vertical slat grille and a bonnet scoop. The bold bodywork that we have seen till now on the Scorpio is still there. The SUV does look muscular which should give a good road presence. We can also see the prominent rear hips, bulged wheel arches and big alloy wheels.
This render has been done by SRK Designs for IAB. It is based on the production-ready Scorpio that was spied with camouflage and production-spec headlamps. The artist has also used Mahindra’s 6 vertical slat grille and dual projector LED headlamps. The C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps to surround the fog lamps that have been placed in the lower half of the bumper. The overall profile of the SUV is very boxy continuing the rugged look that the current Scorpio offer.
The third render here is done by Pratyush Rout for Rushlane. The render takes inspiration from XUV Aero Concept that was showcased by Mahindra at Auto Expo 2016. We can see a similar grille like on the current generation. There are dual projector LED headlamps derived from the XUV Aero Concept. It gets LED Daytime Running Lamps that surround the headlamp and then the C-shaped Daytime Running Lamps are also placed in the lower half of the bumper.
Speaking of the 2021 Scorpio itself, it will get many modern features like a new touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multiple airbags, new instrument cluster with multi-information display, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel and much more. Mahindra 2021 Scorpio will go against the Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, MG Hector and the Hyundai Creta. However, the Scorpio will get an advantage of a 4×4 powertrain and it is expected to start from Rs. 10 lakhs ex-showroom.
The ladder-frame chassis of the SUV has also been reworked to offer better handling dynamics and better ride quality. Mahindra will also offer two engine options with the Scorpio now. There will be a 2.0-litre mStallion, turbocharged, direct-injection petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The petrol engine is expected to put out somewhere between 150 PS to 170 PS of max power with a torque output of 320 Nm. The diesel engine is expected to put out close to 140 to 150 PS of max power with a torque output of 350 Nm.
