Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the new generation of the Celerio on 10th November. Here, we have some new spy shots of the 2021 Celerio in different colours. Also, the variant that we see in the pictures is equipped with the AMT gearbox. The images are shared by gyaan_auto on Instagram.
We can see the 2021 Celerio in a new shade of Blue, Grey and Red. From the earlier spy shots, we know there will also be a white on offer. This is the first time we are seeing the AMT variant of the Celerio. The gear lever has been redesigned to look more premium. Interestingly, it looks very similar to the gear lever found on some models of Mercedes-Benz.
The 2021 Celerio is new from the ground up. It has been redesigned completely and now looks much more modern. This is because Maruti Suzuki has ditched the tall boy design language because it started to show its age. The new-gen Celerio now looks like a conventional modern hatchback.

The bonnet is now quite flat and the headlamps are also all-new. They do have a smoked surround and the fog lamp housing is also new. Then there is the new sleek grille with a horizontal chrome slat. On the side, there are sculpted wheel arches and new alloy wheels that are blacked out. The door handles and the outside rearview mirrors are body coloured and there is also a LED on the wing mirrors. There is a keyhole and request sensor placed on the front doors. The taillamps have also been redesigned. Maruti Suzuki is still not using LEDs or a projector setup for all the lighting. It still uses halogens all around.
Then we move on to the interior where we can see that the Celerio will not offer automatic climate control on any variant. The spy shots are of the top-end variant so you can see a 12V accessory socket, USB port and an AUX port. There is also a 7-inch SmartPlay infotainment system that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It looks like the Celerio will come with integrated headrests for the front occupants.
Other things that we can make out are cupholders and storage space in the centre console. There is also a bottle holder on all four doors. There is a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel. The window controls are placed in the centre console instead of doors. This helps in saving manufacturing costs.
2021 Celerio is expected to be based on the Heartect platform that we have seen on the Swift, WagonR, Dzire, Baleno etc. The new platform should help in increasing the dimensions and the safety rating of the hatchback. The increased dimensions mean the occupants would be more comfortable on their journeys.
Maruti Suzuki will offer only one petrol engine with the 2021 Celerio. It will be a new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated K10C engine. The power and torque output of the engine is not known right now. However, it is expected to produce a class-leading fuel efficiency figure of somewhere around 26 kmpl.
