Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift: New Dashboard design leaked

Maruti Suzuki Baleno is due for a refresh for the year 2022, and spy shots of the interiors of the upcoming update are making rounds on the internet. Going by the two images in which the interiors can be clearly seen, the hatchback is going to get some substantial redesigning.

The entire dashboard has been redone. It is now dual-tone and appears to be more layered in design than the generation currently on sale.

Taking the center stage is a newly designed centre console. It sports a floating style touchscreen entertainment display. The user interface looks to have been redesigned and could possibly incorporate Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Just below it is the horizontal air-conditioning vents. The climate control switchgear is placed inside a more angular housing. These have a new look too and seem like illuminated pushbuttons.

The steering wheel now seems to be like the one offered on the Swift – with a sporty flat-bottom, dual-tone, leather-wrapped treatment. The centre of the steering wheel is now round, as opposed to the current one which is shaped like a shield. The wiper and indicator stalks behind the steering wheel look shorter and sportier, going with the overall revised theme of the car.

Buttons on the steering wheel indicate that the Baleno might get a few new features, including cruise control and voice commands. Switches on the right side of the steering wheel have a new Start/Stop button, and a whole suite of control switches. The instrument cluster seems to be very similar to the current-gen Baleno, however, this is obscured in the images being circulated and might see some tweaks to fit with the design theme.

Baleno to remain petrol-only

Two of the closest competitors of the Baleno are the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz. With both these cars looking and feeling more modern than the current-gen Baleno, a refresh was expected on the styling front. Mechanically, however, no change is expected and Maruti Suzuki will continue to offer the 1.2-litre petrol engine, along with the Smart Hybrid option. The power output figures remain at 81hp and 88hp, and the petrol would get the 5-speed manual and CVT transmission options, while the petrol hybrid engine would get the 5-speed manual transmission.

The current Maruti Suzuki Baleno is priced between Rs. 5.99 lakh and Rs. 9.45 lakh. The new updates for 2022 could see a revised and slightly premium sticker price on the car, however, it is likely to remain under Rs. 10 lakh.
