Hyundai Creta is the best selling mid-size SUV in the Indian market. The second generation of Creta was first showcased at the Auto Expo last year. The Korean manufacturer has already started working on a facelift of the Creta. It will be a mid-cycle refresh for the SUV. Hyundai has already started testing the new facelift in the international market. Here, are the new pictures of the 2022 Creta.
Mostly cosmetic changes
The changes to the 2022 Creta will be mostly cosmetic. As we can see from the pictures there will be a revised front fascia. It will no longer boast a C-shaped front headlamp. The design will be inspired by the fourth generation of Tucson which has been launched in the international markets. This will bring Creta’s design in line with other SUVs that Hyundai sells in the foreign market.

We can see a new design of Hyundai’s cascading grille that has LED Daytime Running Lamps integrated. The headlamps will be LED units and they will use a projector setup. The headlamps will be placed vertically instead of horizontally as we see in almost every other vehicle. The airdam is slim and there will also be a faux skid plate. The body lines on the SUV will stay the same. Also, there will be a new set of alloy wheels on offer.
The current design of the Creta was a bit controversial. Some people really liked the unique styling while for others the Creta was a bit too overstyled. It is not like the new styling is more conventional. When the fourth generation of Tucson was launched, it also faced some criticism but over time the new styling worked. Now, Hyundai is using a similar front fascia for the Creta too. This should help in increasing the appeal of the Creta and it will give a refreshing look to the SUV. It is still unclear whether Hyundai will make updates to the rear tail lamps or not.
Features and launch
The Creta is already one of the most feature-loaded SUVs that you can get in the Indian market. With the facelift, it is expected that Hyundai might add a heads up display, 360-degree parking camera and blind-spot monitoring to the Creta. Other features are expected to stay the same.
The mil-life facelift of the Creta is expected to launch in the international market in 2022. So, we can expect the facelift to get launched in our country in 2023. A similar timeline was followed by Hyundai when the current Creta was launched.
No mechanical changes
There will be no mechanical changes to the facelift of the Creta. So, Hyundai will continue to offer it in three engines and three gearbox options. There will be a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with direct injection.
The naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 115 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 144 Nm. As standard, the engine is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Although, you can get a CVT automatic transmission with this engine. Then there is the diesel engine which also produces 115 PS of max power but the torque output is significantly higher at 250 Nm. The diesel engine is also offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. You can also get a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with it.
Then there is the turbocharged petrol engine which is the most powerful of the three. It produces 140 PS of max power and 242 Nm of peak torque. Hyundai only offers the turbo petrol engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
