From the spy shots, we can see the front half of the H6 does look quite similar to the Compass. It is after the B-pillar where we start seeing substantial differences. At the front, there is Jeep’s 7-slat grille, sleek headlamps which will come with LED projectors and LED Daytime Running Lamps and a flat bonnet. Then there are the boxy wheel arches enhancing the SUV looks.

Now, the differences, we can see a larger rear door which should help in easy ingress and egress for the third-row occupants as they would have to travel back. The overall glass area is also larger than the Compass to let in more light into the cabin. The roofline is also taller than the Compass, which helps in enhancing the headroom. Then there is the quarter window which does not taper-off and is much larger than the Compass.

The larger quarter area glass also helps in making sure that the third-row occupants do not feel claustrophobic. The tailgate is also much more upright unlike Compass, which gets a slightly rakes rear glass. The overall third quarter of the H6 SUV is much larger than the Compass to liberate more legroom for the third-row occupants. Overall, the design of the H6 is boxier when compared to the Compass.

Powering the Jeep H6 will be the same 2.0-litre Multijet 2 diesel engine that we have seen on the Compass. The engine will produce power outputs of around 200 PS whereas the Compass produces 170 PS of max power and 350 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered with a ZF-sourced automatic transmission. Being a Jeep, there should be a 4×4 powertrain on the higher variants. The 7-seater SUV will be based on the same platform as the Compass.

Some of the design elements for the H6 SUV could be borrowed from the Grand Cherokee and the Grand Wagoneer Concept. There will be a lot of creature comforts on offer. So, expect it to offer features like cruise control, digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, electric adjustment for driver seat, electrical sunroof, connected car technology and much more.

According to previous reports, the Jeep H6 is expected to get unveiled in the second half of 2021 while the launch is expected to happen in 2022. The right-hand versions of the 7-seater SUV will be manufactured at Jeep’s plant in Chakan. The new SUV will sit above the Compass. It will go against the likes of MG Gloster, Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner.
