2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N Z4: Here is what the base variant offers

A few days ago, Mahindra started the production of the mid-spec Z4 variant of the highly popular Scorpio-N at its production facility in Chakan, Pune. Now, the Mahindra Scorpio-N Z4 variant has started reaching dealerships across the country. Here’s a video of a Scorpio-N Z4 variant, which reached a dealer outlet in Nagpur, as per a video by Nick Zeek.

In this video, the presenter gives a thorough walkaround look at the Mahindra Scorpio-N, describing all features this mid-spec variant of the SUV gets. The vehicle featured in the video is a white-coloured Mahindra Scorpio-N Z4 variant, which gets halogen headlamps and turn indicators at the front, unlike the all-LED setup in the top-spec Z8 L variant. The Scorpio-N Z4 also misses out on fog lamps and alloy wheels and instead gets black-coloured 17-inch steel wheels. However, the Z4 variant of the Scorpio-N also gets turn indicators on the outside rearview mirrors, roof rails, rear roof spoiler, rear windscreen wiper and LED tail lamps.

The presenter also gives a thorough look at the interior of the Mahindra Scorpio-N, which also gets the same dual-toner black and walnut brown theme as the top-spec Z8 L variant. However, it misses out on leather upholstery and soft touch finish for the dashboard and door pads.

Comes with a long list of features

The variant is seen with a decent amount of equipment levels, including a smaller but coloured 4.2-inch MID in the instrument console, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, manual AC, rear AC vents and a multi-functional steering wheel with audio, Bluetooth and cruise control switches. It also gets a few nifty features like a sunglass holder and reading lamps.

In terms of safety, the Mahindra Scorpio-N Z4 variant is complete with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, electronic stability control, hill start assist and hill descent control. The Z4 variant of the Mahindra Scorpio-N is being offered with both a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine, though the latter is in a different state of tune here.

While the petrol engine produces 203 bhp of power and 370 Nm of torque, the diesel engine claims 175 bhp of power and 370 Nm of torque. Both these engine options are available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options in this variant, with the additional option of a four-wheel-drive system in the diesel-manual version of the SUV.

Fully-loaded

The Scorpio-N sold in India gets two seating layouts: 6 and 7 seats. The SUV also gets a slew of features never seen before on a Scorpio. Some of these features include side and curtain airbags, downhill assist, powered driver’s seat, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, push start-stop button, dual-zone automatic climate control, a front camera, SOS switch, driver drowsiness detection, option of captain seats in the middle row, 7-inch TFT MID in the instrument console, and more premium 12-speaker 3D surround sound system from Sony, single-pane sunroof and Alexa ‘what3words’ compatibility. Clearly, Mahindra has left no stone unturned to position the Scorpio-N as an upmarket ladder frame SUV that’s very capable both on and off the road.
