2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N’s highest selling variant – Z4 MT – in a walkaround video

The Indian SUV manufacturing giant Mahindra Auto has blown the entire competition away with the launch of its newest SUV – the Scorpio-N which it dubs as the “Big Daddy” of SUVs. On the first day of bookings, it smashed a record by achieving 1,00,000 reservations in just 30 minutes. And ever since its launch the SUV has been on sale with a long waiting list. The Scorpio N can be had in any of the four trims from Z2 all the way up to Z8. Although the most demanded variant from the lineup which also contributes to the majority of its open bookings is the Z4 variant.

Until recently Mahindra was only producing the top-end variants of the Scorpio-N for the market however, just a few weeks ago the company commenced the production of its base Z2 and second base Z4 variants at its production facility in Chakan, Pune. Following this, both the base variants have started arriving at dealerships across the country. One such Z4 variant Scorpio-N was recorded by Youtuber sansCARi sumit at a dealership.

In the video uploaded by the Youtuber we can note that the SUV looks extremely attractive finished in the Deep Forest shade. The presenter goes to describe how the Z4 variant is the most demanded variant of the Scorpio-N lineup and it is priced at Rs 13.49 lakh for the Z4 petrol manual transmission variant. He describes the car as a huge value for money proposition because of its large sizing and availability of ample features. Sumit explains that although the model lacks a good chunk of features compared to the top end variant, it can be converted into an ‘almost’ top end variant with modifications from Karol Bagh.

From the video we can note that in the front the Z4 variant misses out on the LED headlamps and fog lamps. And instead of the chrome embellishments which do come equipped in the top-spec models the SUV in the Z4 spec gets frosted silver garnishes on the front grille. Moving further to the side profile, we can also see that the shown vehicle misses the diamond cut alloy wheels and black side steps of the Z8 variant. In place of these the Z4 variants gets 17-inch steel wheels with silver wheels caps and silver side steps.

From the video we can also infer that the variant comes with a good bit of equipment levels, such as a smaller but colored 4.2-inch MID in the instrument console, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, manual air conditioning, rear AC vents, and a multi-functional steering wheel with audio, Bluetooth, and cruise control switches. It also comes loaded with useful features such as a sunglass holder and reading lighting. Meanwhile, in terms of the safety tech the Mahindra Scorpio-N Z4 model comes standard with twin front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, electronic stability control, hill start assist, and hill descent control which considering the price is an ample amount of safety features.

In terms of powertrains, the Mahindra Scorpio-N Z4 is available with both a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine options. The petrol mill in the Scorpio-N Z4 generates a maximum power of 203 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, while the diesel engine offers 175 bhp and 370 Nm of torque. As for the transmission options, the Z4 variant gets a choice between a  6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The variant also gets an option of a four-wheel-drive system in the diesel-manual iteration of the SUV.
