2022 Maruti Baleno receives over 50,000 bookings within one month of launch

Indian car maker Maruti Suzuki recently launched the all-new Baleno premium hatchback in the market. Although, it may look similar to the older version, this is an all-new model both from the outside and inside. Ever since the launch, 2022 Maruti  Baleno received an overwhelming response and had received over 25,000 bookings even before the price was announced. Now Maruti has officially announced that the Maruti Baleno has crossed 50,000 booking mark. Maruti Baleno competes with cars like Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Tata Altroz in the segment.

Maruti made several cosmetic and mechanical changes to the 2022 Baleno hatchback. Starting with the design, the hatchback gets a revised front fascia with projector headlamps and integrated LED DRLs. The front grille on the hatchback has been revised as well. The overall design of the car looks a lot more bolder and matured. front bumper has been revised and it comes with LED fog lamps as well. Coming to the side profile, the car gets a prominent character line towards the rear of the car. The alloy wheels are dual tone and get a slightly different design from the older version.

Moving in, the cabin of  the 2022 Maruti Baleno have been revised. The cabin looks a lot more richer than the previous version. Maruti has incorporated a lot features into the car to compete with the competition. Many of these features are actually segment. first. First thing that one would notice in the cabin is the all-new touchscreen infotainment system. The older screen has been replaced with a 9 inch floating type touchscreen infotainment system that support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The screen also supports voice commands.

Another segment first feature in the new Baleno is the 360 degree camera which comes in handy especially when you park the car in tight spaces. Maruti is also offering Head-Up Display with the new Baleno which is not available with any other car in the segment. Maruti Baleno however still misses out in features like electric sunroof, ventilated seats. Other than this, Maruti Baleno comes with multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, automatic climate control and so on.

Another major change in the 2022 Maruti Baleno is the engine. The car now gets a 1.2 litre DualJet petrol engine with Smart Hybrid system. The engine generates 90 Ps and 113 Nm of peak torque and is available with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option. The older version of Maruti Baleno was available with a CVT gearbox option. This has been discontinued in the current version. The CVT gearbox was replaced to keep the cost of the car in check and also when compared to the CVT version, AMT offers better fuel efficiency.

Maruti Baleno offers a claimed fuel economy of 22.3 kmpl on the manual and  the AMT version return 22.9 kmpl. The older CVT version only had a claimed economy of little over 19 kmpl. The car is available in five colour options and price for the new 2022 Maruti Baleno starts Rs 6.35lakh, ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 9.49 lakh, ex-showroom.
