Maruti Suzuki Brezza is one of the best compact SUVs on sale in the Indian market. But it is due for an update for quite some time now. Fortunately, the new generation of Brezza is ready. It has already been spotted while it was on a TVC shoot and it was also at a dealership yard. According to Autocar India, Maruti Suzuki will be launching the new 2022 Brezza on June 30th. Some dealerships have even started accepting unofficial bookings of the new compact SUV.
Design
One of the biggest advantages of the Brezza was its SUV-like design language. Maruti Suzuki knows this and they have kept the boxy design language intact. However, they have made substantial changes to the headlamps, tail lamps and bumpers. The headlamps and tail lamps are sleeker. There are new LED projector headlamps that get L-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps. The grille is also new and the bumper is also more aggressive. On the sides, there are new diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Interior and features
The interior of the current Brezza looks dated when compared to the rivals. Maruti Suzuki has redesigned the interior with a new dashboard design and a new instrument cluster. It is still an analogue instrument cluster with a new multi-information display. The steering wheel will be a new multi-function unit that will be borrowed from the XL6. We are also expecting the Brezza to have a new upholstery design.
The compact SUV will also have a new touchscreen infotainment system that we have seen on the new-gen Baleno. It is expected to measure 9-inches while the lower variants could get a smaller 7-inch unit. It will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Moreover, it will run a new user interface. There will also be cruise control, connected car features, SOS functionality, an electric sunroof, push-button to start/stop the engine, keyless entry and much more. We are also expecting Maruti Suzuki to offer more safety equipment as well as more airbags.
Engine and gearbox
The Brezza will come with a new 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine. It is a four-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit that produces 100 PS of max power and 136 Nm of peak torque. It now comes with two injectors per cylinder instead of one. This gives the manufacturer more precise control over-fueling. Moreover, there will also be a mild-hybrid system on offer. Gearbox options will include a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission that replaces the 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The automatic transmission would also get paddle shifters so that the driver can take manual control of the gearbox. It is expected that Maruti Suzuki would also offer the new-gen Brezza with a CNG powertrain.
The 2022 Brezza is also based on the Global C platform. So, there are no changes to the platform. Moreover, the manufacturer will no longer be using the “Vitara” moniker for the Brezza anymore. The new generation of the SUV will simply be called “Brezza”.
