Skoda has launched the Slavia, which is off to a strong start and reinstating the interest of car buyers in the premium compact sedan segment. The new Skoda Slavia has come in as a replacement for the decade-old Rapid and promises to be a better car over the latter in all the parameters. One of those parameters is that of safety features, in which Skoda has put in the best possible efforts.
2022 Skoda Slavia safety features
Here’s an official video from Skoda India that explains all the safety features with which the new Slavia sedan comes equipped. Like any other modern car, the Skoda Slavia comes equipped with remote keyless entry, reverse parking sensors and anti-theft alarm, which are a part of standard equipment across the range. The higher-spec variants, which come with a push start-stop button, feature an access button on the door handles.

Following the footsteps of its direct rivals, the Honda City and Hyundai Verna, the new Skoda Slavia features a total of six airbags. While the entire range of the Slavia has dual front airbags as standard, the side and curtain airbags are available in the top-spec Style variants. However, it misses out on a driver-knee airbag, which was there in the now-defunct Toyota Yaris. Another expected safety feature that has made its way in the new Skoda Slavia is a reverse camera.
The new Skoda Slavia also has an auto-dimming inside the rearview mirror, which the erstwhile-available Rapid was not having. The Slavia also gets ISOFIX mounts for child seats on the rear bench, which is a handy feature for the safety of small kids.
The list of other safety features which are aimed to improve the driving dynamics of the Skoda Slavia includes hill hold assist, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, brake disc wiping, motor slip regulation, multi-collision braking, ABS with EBD and traction control. It also comes with an electronic differential locking system, a segment-first feature.
Slavia offers two engine options
The new Skoda Slavia was launched in India in February 2022. Introduced as a petrol-only sedan, the new Slavia is offered with two turbocharged petrol engine options. While 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI petrol produces 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque, the 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI petrol engine claims 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. Apart from the standard 6-speed manual gearbox for both the engines, the Slavia is also available with optional automatic transmissions – a 6-speed torque converter for the 1.0-litre TSI and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox for the 1.5-litre TSI.
