Toyota Kirloskar Motor recently launched the 2022 version of Toyota Glanza which is based on the new age Maruti Baleno. With fuel prices likely to go up in the coming times, Toyota is now planning to introduce CNG in their vehicles. The first model to get a factory fitted CNG kit in Toyota is most likely to be the recently launched Toyota Glanza. The manufacturer has hinted the launch of a CNG version of Glanza on Toyota’s official website. The launch of the CNG version of Toyota Glanza is likely to happen in coming months.
According to the post that was available on Toyota’s official website, the CNG variant of Toyota Glanza is likely to return a fuel economy of 25 km per kilogram of gas. Toyota is calling the CNG version e-CNG. There are no changes in terms of engine but, in comparison to the petrol powered by version, the CNG version will generate less power and torque. Toyota is offering the new Glanza in four variants. There is E, S, G and V. The CNG option is likely to be offered with lower two variants.
The price for the 2022 Toyota Glanza starts at Rs 6.39 lakh, ex-showroom and the CNG version is likely to be priced slightly more than the regular version. It is safe to expect a price difference of around Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000 when compared to regular petrol version. Toyota Glanza and Maruti Baleno are basically the same car and most of us already know that. It is quite possible that after Toyota launches the CNG version of Glanza, Maruti might also introduce CNG in Baleno. Maruti is already working on getting CNG for their Nexa range of cars.

Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza are powered by 1.2 litre DualJet petrol engine that generates 90 Ps and 113 Nm of peak torque. Both the cars are offered with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed manual AMT gearbox option. Toyota Glanza is offered with several tech and convenience features. Both vehicle share most of the features. The car comes with a floating style touchscreen infotainment system. The screen supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also supports voice commands. Other features include automatic climate control, cruise control, Head-Up Display, tilt and telescopic steering and 360 degree camera. Many of these features are offered for the first time in the segment.
The car also supports connected car features which includes several functions including location of the vehicle. In comparison to the previous model, Toyota has done some work to differentiate it from Baleno. It gets different looking LED DRLs, front grille and much more muscular looking bumper. Toyota has gone for a much more sportier looking front end for Glanza when compared with Baleno. The Toyota Glanza also gets the Idle Start Stop feature which helps improving the overall fuel economy. Toyota Glanza manual version has an ARAI certified fuel economy of 22.3 kmpl and the the AMT version returns 22.9 kmpl. Toyota is offering extended warranty package that extends the warranty cover to 5 years or 2.2 lakh kms.
