2022 Toyota Glanza spotted undisguised ahead of launch

Toyota will be launching the 2022 Glanza on 15th March. Till now, we have only seen Glanza’s facelift in spy pictures or in teasers. Now, the 2022 Glanza has been leaked online. We can see there are some major changes to the exterior of the Glanza. So, there are some changes made this time. So, it does not look like a straight-up rebadge.

 

The front has been redesigned. It gets a new grille that seems to be inspired by the Camry. There are two chrome slats that stretch till the headlamps. Speaking of the headlamps, the design is the same as the Baleno but the LED Daytime Running Lamps are different. The Baleno gets three LEDs whereas the Glanza comes with a regular strip like the pre-facelift Glanza used to come.

Then there is the heavily redesigned bumper. It has an aggressive air dam with hexagonal mesh. The fog lamp housings have also been redesigned and there is a chrome surround also. There are two black plastic pieces that look like horns and add to the aggressive front look. The only other change to the exterior will be the slightly redesigned diamond-cut alloy wheels. So, the rear and the side profile will stay the same, only the badges will be changed.

Features to stay same

The equipment list will stay the same as the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno. So, there will be a flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel, electric adjustment for ORVMs, keyless entry, push-button to start/stop the engine, auto-dimming IRVM, multi-function display, cruise control, auto-fold ORVMs, automatic climate control and much more.

It would also come with a 360-degree parking camera and a heads-up display. Toyota has also teased that there will be connected car technology with the Glanza. You would be able to control some of the functions of the car through a mobile application and even on your smartwatch. There would be voice commands also.

Safety features

For safety, Glanza will come with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The top-end variant and variants with AMT gearbox would get Hill Hold Assist and Electronic Stability Program. Moreover, the top-end variant would also come with 6 airbags.

Variants and Colours

The Glanza will be offered in four variants. There would be E, V, G and S. The V, G and S would also be offered with the AMT transmission. There would be five colours in which Glanza would be offered. There is Cafe White, Sportin Red, Enticing Silver, Insta Blue and Gaming Red.

Specs

The engine and transmission of the 2022 Glanza will be the same as the Baleno. It would come with a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 90 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT.

Competitors

2022 Glanza would go against Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz and the upcoming Citroen C3.
