2022 Toyota Glanza Variant & Engine options leaked: Bookings Open

Toyota will launch the 2022 Glanza on March 15th. This time also the Glanza would be based on the Baleno which was recently launched. The manufacturer has also started accepting bookings for the new Glanza. Now, the variant details and specifications of the 2022 Glanza have been leaked online.

Variants and gearbox

The Glanza would be offered in four variants. There would be E, V, G, S whereas the current Glanza was offered only with V and G variants. The engine and gearbox option will stay the same as the Glanza.

So, there would be a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 90 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. The AMT transmission would come mated with the V, G and S variants. Toyota is claiming a fuel efficiency of more than 22 kmpl.

Idle start/stop system

There would also be an idle start/stop functionality on offer. It would help save fuel by shutting down the engine automatically when the car comes to a stop and the system would also restart the engine automatically when the driver engages the clutch. This system can be really useful in scenarios like heavy traffic jams and a traffic light.

Colours

Toyota Glanza would be offered in Insta Blue, Cafe White, Sportin Red, Enticing Silver and Gaming Grey. It will miss out on the Beige Hue paint scheme that is offered on the Maruti Suzuki 2022 Baleno.

Exterior changes

Unlike the previous Glanza which was a straight-up rebadge of Baleno, Toyota has decided to make some changes to the 2022 Glanza. So, the front has a new design that is inspired by the Toyota Corolla Altis and the bumper is also different. The headlamps look the same but the LED Daytime Running Lamp is different. The alloy wheels are also slightly different. Moreover, the interior gets a black and beige theme instead of a black and blue theme.

Features

The two main highlighting features of the Glanza would be the 360-degree parking camera and the heads-up display. We have experienced both the features on the recently launched Baleno. While the camera quality of the 360-degree parking camera is average, it does give the driver a top-down view of the vehicle which can help in tight parking spots. The heads-up display shows various information in the line of sight of the driver. So, the driver does not have to look away from the road. The HUD can show speedometer, blower control, temperature control, tachometer, gear indicator, fuel efficiency and time.

Other features include cruise control, automatic climate control, push-button to start/stop the engine, voice assistant, connected car technology, multi-information display, LED projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel, auto-dimming IRVM, keyless entry, rear AC vents and much more.

Then there is the new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It comes connected to an Arkamys sound system and has been co-developed with Suzuki. The lower variants will get a 7-inch unit.

Safety features

As standard, Toyota will offer ABS with EBD, dual airbags, Brake Assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts and high-speed alert. The top-end variant will get Hill Hold Assist, Electronic Stability Program and 6 airbags. The Hill Hold Assist and ESP are also offered on AMT variants.
