The country’s second-largest carmaker Hyundai Motor India has been hard at work and is currently developing the newest iteration of its popular mid-size sedan Verna. The model has been spotted testing numerous times on Indian roads and recently it was reported the model is most likely to be officially unveiled in April of this year. The company according to reports will also commence the production of the model in its plants in the country in March of this year. The 2023 Verna will be a completely overhauled model and will boast an all-new look on the outside as well as the inside. Recently a video rendering of the model was also shared online.
The video rendering of the forthcoming Verna was shared on YouTube by D&B Review. The video culminates the design cues from all the test mules that have been seen testing across the country over the last few months. The video presents the car in its complete glory and we can note that the model will feature the company’s all-new sharper design language.
At the front, the all-new 2023 Verna will feature the brands newest parametric grille, which we have already seen on the new company flagship SUV the Tucson. The new Verna will also get extremely sharp front fascia with various cuts and creases all across the bonnet and front bumper. The car will boast a a split headlamp design and will come adorned with daytime running LEDs on the top. The last test mule was seen equipped with front parking sensors as well.
Moving on the side profile of the upcoming mid size sedan we could note that the car will feature some even sharper body lines. The most significant design element on the sides will be the presence of a horizontal M pattern that will be created by its crisp body lines. The forthcoming sedan will continue to retain its svelte, low slung stance and will feature an all-new set of diamond cut alloy wheels. Meanwhile on the rear end, the sedan will also boast an all-new sharper bumper along with some triangular LED taillamps. It will also get a serrated decklid along with a pronounced lower diffuser at the bottom.
In terms of the interior not much has been reported but it has been reported that it will boast an all new layout and will become inline with the company’s newest releases. One of the biggest highlights of the new Verna will be the offering of ADAS features. The advanced driver assistance systems will be borrowed from the all-new Tucson which have been developed specifically for Indian roads.
As for the drivetrain side of things, reports have suggested that the 1.4-liter engine that currently powers the Creta, Seltos, and Alcazar won’t pass the new RDE regulations under Phase II of the BS6 transition, which is scheduled to happen before April 2023, so it is believed that the company will debut an entirely new 1.5-liter turbo-petrol unit in India. Hence the new Verna could also receive this new powerplant. Currently, the exact details of this engine are not yet available. However, rumors suggest that it might be able to generate 260–265 Nm of peak torque and 160 PS of peak power. This engine could be made available with a manual or a DCT transmission.
