In a few days, the all-new Hyundai Verna will hit the showroom floors across the country. While Hyundai has been revealing the car in pieces through visuals on its social media channels, a new video has surfaced confirming that series production has begun. Hyundai has shared a video that shows the manufacturing process of the new Verna on the production lines at the carmaker’s facility in Chennai.
According to Hyundai, the new Verna will have a stiffer overall body and structure for a safer build and optimal distribution of energy flow. The new Verna is assembled using high-tech robots and advanced stamping methods on the series lines in the plant.

In addition to modern manufacturing techniques and machinery, Hyundai has confirmed that the sedan will get the new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which has already made its way into the updated versions of Kia Cares and Hyundai Alcazar.
The engine claims 160 PS of maximum power and 253 Nm of maximum torque. However, it is yet to be seen which transmission options the new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine will be offered with in the new Verna. In addition to this powertrain option, Hyundai will also offer the new Verna with the 1.5-litre 115 PS naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 6-speed manual and CVT transmission options.
Segment-first features
Hyundai has also confirmed that the new Verna will come with a few new segment-first features, including heated front seats, a touch-sensitive panel for climate control and audio functions, level-2 ADAS, ventilated front seats, a wireless charger and a sunroof. These features have been revealed in visual teasers on Hyundai’s social media channels.
Compared to the outgoing version, the new Hyundai Verna features a dramatic new exterior design falling under the carmaker’s ‘sensuous sportiness’ design philosophy. The new Verna has also grown in dimensions and is significantly longer than its predecessor, measuring more than 4.5 meters in length. The 2023 Hyundai Verna will directly compete with other new-generation sedans in its segment, such as the fifth-gen Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.
Honda recently launched the facelifted version of the City in the Indian market. The new updated Verna will take on the newly launched sedan, which got updated with the ADAS. The Honda City facelift has become the most affordable sedan with ADAS. The new Hyundai Verna will also offer ADAS features among many other segment-first features in the market.
