2023 Maruti Suzuki Brezza updated: CNG variants see feature deletions

One of the highest-selling compact SUVs in the Indian car market, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza has been on a successful run ever since its launch in early 2022. However, for those who are planning to buy a new Maruti Suzuki Brezza, there’s a surprise move by the carmaker that you should know about. Maruti Suzuki has silently tweaked the features list of the Brezza compact SUV, offering it with fewer features than before.

Firstly, the new Maruti Suzuki Brezza now misses out on the electronic stability program (ESP) and hill hold assist in its CNG-powered variants. The new Brezza was launched with ESP and hill hold assist as standard in all of its variants since its launch. Even the CNG-powered variants, which arrived at a later stage, came equipped with these safety features. However, the CNG variants of Brezza are no longer offered with these two features.

Another aspect that gave the Maruti Suzuki Brezza an edge over its competitors was the availability of the Smart Hybrid system. Since launch, the Brezza has been offered with a Smart Hybrid system, consisting of idle start-stop, brake energy regeneration, and torque assist during acceleration, in both manual and automatic versions. Now, Maruti Suzuki has omitted this system from the manual variants of Brezza, resulting in only the automatic variants coming with the Smart Hybrid system. The CNG variants of Brezza, however, do not come with the Smart Hybrid system since their launch.

Three-point seatbelts for all passengers

However, at the same time, Maruti Suzuki is now offering three-point seatbelts for all five passengers, which is a minor but crucial move to enhance the safety of the occupants. Despite the omission of these features and the inclusion of three-point seat belts, there have been no revisions in the prices of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The SUV continues to be offered with a starting price of Rs 8.29 lakh.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is currently offered in four variants – LXI, VXI, ZXI, and ZXI+. All these variants come with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which produces 102 bhp of maximum power and 136.8 Nm of maximum torque. A 5-speed manual transmission is offered as standard, though a 6-speed automatic transmission is also on offer from the VXI variant onwards. The Brezza competes with other compact SUVs like Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and the recently-launched Fronx.
