Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched the new and updated iteration of its flagship sedan the 2023 Ciaz. The company has given the MY2023 model a plethora of safety features and three new additional dual-tone colors. The 2023 Ciaz will now have over 20 more safety features as part of the upgrade, including twin airbags, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchoring, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Hill Hold Assist as standard features.
Commenting on the launch of the new 2023 Ciaz Dual Tone, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “We are thrilled to introduce the new Ciaz, featuring three new dual-tone colour options and additional safety features. The Ciaz has been a beloved choice among our customers and has attained remarkable success, completing eight years in the market. With its new avatar, we aim to further strengthen our position in the premium mid-size sedan segment.”
The three new dual-tone colors now being offered with the sedan that retails via the NEXA line of dealerships are – Pearl Metallic Opulent Red with Black Roof, Pearl Metallic Grandeur Gray with Black roof and Dignity Brown with Black Roof. Apart from the above mentioned safety features and these new colors the car has not received any major alterations to its drivetrain.
The updated model will still be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine that generates a max power of 104.6 PS @ 6000 rpm and a max torque of 138 Nm @ 4400 rpm. This engine is offered with a manual as well as an automatic transmission option. As for the pricing side of things Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Ciaz priced at Rs 11.14 lakh for the Manual variant and Rs 12.34 lakh for the Automatic variant.
Maruti Suzuki launched the the facelift of the Ciaz back in 2018, ever since then the sedan has not received any major changes and is due for a generation change. At one point in time the car was the best selling sedan in its mid size segment but last years numbers revealed that the car had dropped to fourth on list getting beat almost each and every sedan from the major German and Japanese automakers in the country.
The flagship Maruti Suzuki sedan only managed to achieve a number of 16,930 units of the Ciaz in 2022. The average sales per month was recorded as 1,411 units meanwhile the best quarter for Ciaz sales was the Q1 where the company dispatched a total of 5,412 units of the car.
In other news, country’s largest automaker by volume, Maruti Suzuki announced the Black Editions for its entire lineup of vehicles sold through its Arena range of dealerships. The list of these vehicles includes the Alto K10, Celerio, WagonR, Swift, Dzire, Brezza, and Ertiga. All of these mentioned vehicles in some of their select variants will now be offered with the option of a Midnight Black paint shade on the outside. Earlier the company also announced the same for its NEXA dealership models as well.
