While the launch of the all-new Hector in January 2023 has already been confirmed by MG, there was no news on a relative update for its three-row counterpart, the Hector Plus. Now, a fresh set of pictures of test mules of the new MG Hector Plus have surfaced on the internet in the pictures by 91wheels, which indicates that it will also launch not very far away from now. The test mules of the new Hector Plus are seen in full camouflaged, however, there are some design details which are highlighted in them.
The first confirmation about this being the three-row MG Hector Plus is the visibility of three rows of seats, in which the middle row is seen with the captain seat. Even the third-row seat belts are visible in the images. While the exterior is heavily camouflaged with wraps, we can expect that the updated version of the Hector Plus will come with a revised grille which will be slightly different from the updated new massive-looking grille seen in the upcoming five-seater MG Hector.

The test mules of the MG Hector Plus are seen with the same alloy wheel design from the current-spec version, while the tail lamps are also expected to get new LED inserts. The cabin of the test mule of the updated Hector Plus is also seen with complete camouflage, however, the new three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel can be seen. Expect to see new features like a larger 14-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument console and the revised dashboard design with sleeker AC vents in the new Hector Plus.
Mechanically similar to the current model
Apart from the tweaked exterior and interior, the new MG Hector Plus will retain the current set of powertrains – a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. The turbo-petrol engine, which develops 143 PS of maximum power and 250 Nm of maximum torque, is available with both 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT. On the other hand, the diesel engine, which is solely available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, is sourced from Fiat and pumps out 170 PS of maximum power and 350 Nm of maximum torque.
While MG has confirmed that the updated five-seater version of the Hector will arrive in the first half of January 2023, we expect that the updated Hector Plus with both six and seven-seater configurations will arrive soon after the launch of the former. Like before, the new Hector Plus will compete with three-row SUVs like Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and Hyundai Alcazar.
