2023 Seltos Facelift to be Kia India’s first compact SUV to get ADAS

Since its launch, the South Korean automaker Kia’s compact SUV Seltos has been the bread earner for the brand and over the years it has enjoyed immense popularity in the country. So to further bank on the success of this moniker, Kia is planning to launch a new facelift of the Seltos in 2023. According to reports, with the launch of this forthcoming facelift, the company will be replacing its 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 1.5-litre unit. The same engine will also be offered in the 2023 Hyundai Creta Facelift. Additionally, Kia will also be offering Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in the 2023 Seltos.

Once launched, the 2023 Seltos will become Kia’s first offering in India to come equipped with ADAS. It is to be noted that the 2023 Hyundai Creta reportedly will also come with ADAS. Internationally Kia has already unveiled the facelift of the Seltos and from a teaser released back in July of this year, we noted that the forthcoming Seltos will feature a decent amount of changes on the exterior as well as the interior.

For starters on the outside in front, the grille appeared to be much larger than that is currently available on the outgoing model. It will still continue to come with sleek looking full-LED headlamps but they will have some changes. Furthermore the LED DRLs will also extend from the bottom portion of the headlight to the grille. The 2023 model will also get a revised front s bumper and bottom air dams have also been updated. On the lower half of the bumper, there is a silver skid plate and the fog lamps, which are LED units, keep the ice cube design.

The side profile is pretty much the same as the present model, but the alloy wheels will be new and have a different design. Moving on to the back, the SUV’s appearance appears to have been remodeled as well. The tail lamps have been modifi d to more closely resemble those on the Carens. However, there is a connecting LED bar that runs in between the taillights.  The SUV’s rear bumper has also undergone changes.

In terms of interior there will be a completely redesigned dashboard which will now come with a fully digital instrument cluster and a large touchscreen infotainment system. A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, an automated parking brake, and a panoramic sunroof will reportedly be included in the 2023 Kia Seltos 1.5L turbo-petrol.

The upcoming SUV will also include ADAS safety features like the Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Automatic Emergency Braking.  It will also come with Driver Attention Warning, Safe Exit Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist, and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist.

As for the drivetrain side of things Kia will offer the 2023 Seltos with a tonne of options. The engine choices will include a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated engine that will be available with a manual, IMT, and IVT transmission, a 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine will be available with a manual, automatic, and iMT gearbox, and a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine will be available with a manual and a 7-speed DCT. Internationally Kia also offers the Seltos with a 4WD system as well.
