It is no secret that Tata Motors, the country’s third-largest carmaker, is currently working on developing new facelifted models of its popular SUVs, the Safari and Harrier. Every few days, we get new spy shots of these two vehicles being tested across the country, and each picture reveals a new detail about them. The most recent spy shots have revealed that the facelifted Safari will come equipped with an all-new set of LED taillamps and modern sequential turn indicators.
The recent spy shots of the 2023 Tata Safari facelift were taken on a highway at night, showing a completely new set and design of LED taillamps included in the new Safari. Additionally, from the pictures, it was noted that the forthcoming car will feature ambient lighting in the interior as well. The spy pictures showcased a thin blue strip of LED light along the roof liner inside this test mule.
Apart from these, previous spy pictures have revealed that the facelifted Safari will receive an all-new front fascia with a fully revised front bumper. The entire front will be more chiseled, boasting a boxy appearance. The car will continue to feature the split LED DRL and headlight design, but this time the headlights will be vertically stacked. The front grille will also be changed to give the front a distinctive appearance.

Furthermore, it was observed from spy photos of the earlier test mule that not much had changed on the side profile, and it would essentially remain the same as the outgoing Safari. The only distinguishing modification on the side profile was the adoption of a new set of alloy wheels from the previous generation. It is uncertain whether the same alloy wheel design will be available in the SUV’s production version.
Regarding the interior, the SUV is expected to have a revamped interior in addition to ambient lighting. The dashboard of the SUV will likely be completely redesigned, and the entertainment system may also be improved. Reports suggest that a new sensor has been placed just behind the IRVM and the windscreen. It is predicted that this new sensor will be included in the ADAS system of the upcoming Tata Safari facelift. The current ADAS system available in the Tata Safari and Harrier Dark Red Edition is underwhelming, but it is anticipated that the system will improve with the inclusion of this additional sensor.
On the drivetrain side, the next Tata Safari facelift may feature a new 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with 168bhp of peak power and 280Nm of peak torque. This 1.5L Turbo Petrol engine is the same one displayed by the carmaker at the Auto Expo 2023. Most likely, alongside this powertrain, the brand’s flagship SUV will still offer the 2.0-liter Kyrotec diesel engine that produces 170 PS and 350 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
