To keep the pricing of the 2024 Swift competitive, Maruti Suzuki has launched the car in a total of five variants namely LXi, VXi, VXi Optional, ZXi and ZXi Plus. The pricing of the hatchback starts at Rs. 6.5 lakhs ex-showroom for the base LXi variant and goes up to Rs. 9.65 lakhs ex-showroom for the top-end ZXi Plus AMT Dual Tone trim. Today, we will cover the base LXi variant of the car with the help of a YouTube video uploaded by Rajni Chaudhary.

The video starts with the front profile of the car. As expected from a base model fog lights and DRLs are missing here. Surprisingly, the headlights are single projector based halogen units unlike the reflector based halogen units offered in the previous generation. The headlights feature a chrome element which is replaced by the DRLs in higher variants. The grille is finished in gloss black which is the same across all variants.

Regarding the side profile, the car drives on 15-inch steel rims. Cost cutting is evident here as the steel rims, ORVMs and the door handles are left unpainted. Another eye sore in the side profile is the fender mounted turn signals.

In the rear profile, the taillights are the same as the top model. Essential features such as reverse parking camera, wiper with washer and rear defogger are missing. However, to help with the parking, Maruti has offered four rear parking sensors as standard.

The interior of the new Swift has undergone major changes both in terms of design and features. Earlier, the Swift LXi variant did not even offer power windows but now four power windows are offered as standard. Soft touch materials are offered from the base variant which is a nice thing. The overall theme of the cabin has been kept all-black.

The problem with adjustment for ORVMs, which was a major complaint in the 2023 Swift LXi, still persists. Even in the 2024 Swift, you have to adjust ORVMs by adjusting the glass. No controls are provided inside the cabin. Being the base variant, features such as an infotainment system, speakers, keyless entry with push button start, steering mounted multimedia controls and cruise control are not offered.

Height adjustment for drive seat is missing as well which may be a major downside for some. Surprisingly, Maruti has offered Auto AC as standard in the 2024 Swift. Rear AC vents are added in the 2024 Swift but they are offered in the ZXi Plus variant only.

Safety has seen a major upgrade in the 2024 Swift with the car now being offered with six airbags as standard. Other safety features include electronic stability programme (ESP), ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

Powering the Maruti Suzuki Swift is an all-new 1.2-litre Z series three cylinder engine. This engine produces 80 PS of power and 111.7 Nm of torque. The power figures have dropped by 10 PS compared to the previous-generation Swift’s 1.2-litre four cylinder engine, while torque has dropped by 1 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.
