The SUV segment is the largest growing one, not only in India but across the world as well. Every manufacturer is now trying to get in as many crossovers/SUVs as possible so as to plug any possible gap in their model portfolio. Keeping that in mind, here are 25 new SUVs that are coming our way in the next one year:
Ford Ecosport
Launch During: Festive season / Expected Price: 7-10 lakhs
The Ecosport has been a very successful model for Ford in India and the company will be launching the all-new version of the Ecosport during the festive season. The cars have already been spotted testing. It will get refreshed looks, both on the outside and the inside. The will not be any change in the engine department. We expect the same 1.0 liter Ecoboost petrol, 1.5 liter diesel and 1.5 liter petrol engine to be on offer.
Tata Nexon
Launch During: Festive season/ Expected Price: 6-10 lakhs
Tata’s first take at the compact SUV segment, the Nexon will be launched during the festive season. The vehicle will be powered by either a 1.2 liter turbo petrol unit making 108 Bhp and 170 Nm while the diesel will be a 1.5 liter unit making 108 Bhp and 260 Nm. Both engines will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Nexon will also feature a 6.5″ stand-alone infotainment screen.
Datsun Go Cross
Launch During: Mid 2018/ Expected Price: Starting below Rs 6 lakhs
Datsun is looking at bringing in their most expensive product, the Go Cross in the Indian market soon. The vehicle was shown in concept form at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Go Cross will be a compact SUV which the company will be pricing below the Brezza. Engine specs are not confirmed, however it will be a lot more premium than the other Datsun cars that are on sale in the country.
Nissan Kicks
Launch During: Mid 2018/ Expected Price: 15 lakhs
Nissan will be launching their all-new SUV, the Kicks sometime mid next year. The Kicks will be placed above the Terrano and will take on the Kaptur. We expect the Kicks to get the same engines as the Terrano, however in a higher state of tune. The vehicle is all-new and will take on the Kaptur.
Renault Kaptur
Launch During: Festive season / Expected Price: 15 lakhs
The Kaptur will be the next model which will be launched by the Renault brand. The vehicle is based on the BO platform, which under pins the Duster too. The vehicle has been spotted testing in our country a few times. Globally, engine options include a 1.6 liter and 2.0 liter petrol engine. However we expect the 1.5 liter K9 unit to be on offer as well. The car will get better interiors than what we have seen on the Duster and we expect the company to position it over the Duster.
Jeep Compass
Launch During: July 31st/ Expected Price: 18-25 lakhs
Jeep will be launching their highly anticipated Compass on the 31st of this month. The car has already received a large number of bookings already. The Compass will be on offer with either a 2.0 liter diesel engine or a 1.4 liter turbo petrol engine. There will be a total of 5 variants on offer in the diesel model. Initially, the petrol will be the only vehicle that will be offered with an automatic transmission. A diesel automatic is expected sometime mid 2018.
Hyundai Creta
Launch During: Early 2018/ Expected Price: 10-15 lakhs
Hyundai’s popular compact SUV, the Creta will get an update sometime early next year. The vehicle has been successful in the Indian market. The new update will give it a refresh, both on the outside and the inside. Under the hood, we expect the same engines to continue too. The same model has already been unveiled in the international market.
Maruti S-Cross
Launch During: Festive season/ Expected Price: 10-14 lakhs
The S-Cross was Maruti’s take on the Hyundai Creta, something they didn’t manage to be very successful with. The company has already begun trial production of the new S-Cross at its facility in Gurgaon and the cars have also been spotted testing. Changes will mainly be to the looks and the interiors. We expect a 1.5 liter petrol version to be introduced at a later date too.
Honda HR-V
Launch During: Mid 2018/ Expected Price: 15 lakhs
The HR-V will take on the likes of the Creta when introduced. It sits above the WR-V and may even replace the BR-V, which is not doing very well currently. We expect the same 1.5 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engine from the City to be offered on the HR-V as well.
Mahindra TUV500
Launch During: Early 2018/ Expected Price: 10 lakhs
Mahindra is working on a long wheelbase version of the TUV, which maybe called the TUV500. The vehicle will look similar to the TUV up front, but it will get an additional third row of seating, front facing. What will be interesting to see is where the position the vehicle. They will have to place it in such a way that it is below the Scorpio. Details on the engines are not yet known. Since the vehicle will be larger than 4-meters, the company could put in the 2.2 liter unit from the Scorpio.
Mahindra S201
Launch During: Early 2018/ Expected Price: 7-10 lakhs
Mahindra has begun work on an all-new compact SUV. This will take on the Brezza and Ecosport when launched. Yes the company has the TUV and the Nuvosport, however this one will be based on the Tivoli SUV and will cater to a more premium buyer. Details are not yet clear, however it will feature a 1.5 liter diesel engine from the TUV. We expect the company to have more luxurious interiors on offer with the S201. Expect this SUV to be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018.
Mahindra Scorpio
Launch During: End 2017/ Expected Price: 10-15 lakhs
The Scorpio will also be getting an update sometime by the end of this year. We expect the new Scoripo to get refreshed looks, a new infotainment system with Apple Car play and Android auto and a more powerful engine. We expect the same state of tune from the XUV to be offered on the Scorpio.
Mahindra XUV500
Launch During: End 2017/ Expected Price: 13-20 lakhs
The XUV too will get an update with more power mainly. Currently, the company is offering the XUV in the 140 Bhp tune, however it will rumored that it will be coming with a 170 Bhp state of tune. This will certainly give the XUV a new lease of life.
