Hindustan Contessa is classic car that was once very popular among rich families in India. It is based of Vauxhall VX Series sedan and in India it is often considered as a vintage car. Due to its long bonnet and a boxy design, people even call it a muscle car. It is not a muscle car by any means. It is a sedan which comes with a boxy design. It is a popular car among collectors and many have also modified them. Most of the modifications that we have seen on this car are to make it look like a muscle car. Here we have a video where a 1996 model Contessa sedan has been modified to look like an American muscle car.
The video has been uploaded by Tribe’z Travel on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger talks about all the modifications that the owner of this Contessa has done to the car. Due to many reasons, it took owner almost 3 years to modify the car. Starting with the front, the stock grille on the sedan has been completely removed and replaced with a custom made unit. The hedlamps have also been replaced. The round aftermarket units are LED units which come with integrated LED DRL. The stock bumper has been completely revised and it now comes with a lower lip for a sporty look.

The bonnet on this sedan has also seen minor modifications. Coming to the side profile, the original steel rims have been replaced with aftermarket BMW alloy wheels. The front gets 18 inch units while the rear gets 19. This helps in achieveing a muscle car like stance. As the new set of wheels are wider than the stock units, the fender had to be modified. There are now custom fender flares which add to the muscle of the car. One of the main attraction of this car is the paint job. The whole car has been painted in high gloss black which gives it a different look on the road.
As we move to the rear, more modifications can be seen. The rear of the car has been completely redesigned. The rectangular tail lamps of Contessa have been replaced with retro looking round tail lights. The boot of the car has been redesigned and it now comes with a boot lip spoiler. Hindustan Motors and Contessa branding has been completely removed from the car. There are chrome elements on the car. The rear bumper has also been modified.
Along with the exterior, interior of this Contessa has been customised too. The dashboard on this sedan is from a Chevrolet Optra. The instrument cluster and the steering wheel remains the same. There is an aftermarket touchscreen infotainment system and an updated audio system in the car. The seats are from a Skoda Laura and they are all wrapped in black leatherette upholstery. The roof liner has also been wrapped in deep brown coloured material. There is a sunroof which cannot be opened. The video mentions that the work on this car has not finished yet and the owner plans to customise the interior more in future. Till now, the owner has spent almost Rs 10 lakh in modifying this Contessa sedan.
