Auto Expo is coming back to India in 2023 after COVID restrictions caused the cancellation of this year’s event. Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car maker will use the event to bring three all-new, much-awaited cars to the Indian market. Scheduled to happen between the 13th and 18th of January, Maruti Suzuki will showcase these new vehicles at the event.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door
Suzuki is already testing the five-door Jimny in the international markets. After showcasing the three-door variant at the last Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki will unveil the all-new model at the 2023 Auto Expo in India. The five-door Suzuki Jimny has a stretched length and longer wheelbase to accommodate the additional two doors for the second row. In addition, it also gets extra windows to complement the added doors, which are square-shaped and go well with the overall upright and boxy design of the Jimny.

This new five-door Jimny will continue to come with a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and an old-school instrument console with dedicated housings. It will also get a touchscreen infotainment system, controls for the air conditioner in the centre console and rounded AC vents.
For the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki will launch this five-door version of the Jimny to make it more practical and usable, keeping family-oriented Indian buyers in mind. This version will fall within the sub-four-meter bracket with an overall length lesser than four meters and a wheelbase of around 2,500mm. The added length and wheelbase will liberate more space for the second row of passengers and the boot compartment.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny will share its 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated K15C Dualjet engine, which has made its way in the updated Ertiga and XL6 and the all-new Brezza.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross (YTB)
Maruti Suzuki will bring a sub-4m SUV to its Nexa dealerships next year. It is likely to be called the Baleno Cross and is currently codenamed YTB. The new Baleno Cross will get a split headlamp design, with the theme for the daytime running LEDs and projector headlamps similar to those of the upcoming Grand Vitara.
The new SUV coupe also gets a wide-looking grille similar to that of the Grand Vitara. It also gets a rounded roofline, door-mounted rearview mirrors, slim roof rails and squared wheel arches.
Baleno Cross will mark a comeback of the 1.0-litre three-cylinder BoosterJet turbocharged petrol engine from the now-discontinued Baleno RS. This engine used to produce 100 PS of maximum power and 150 Nm of maximum torque, while it came mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine will likely be offered in the Baleno Cross in the same state of tune and with the same transmission choice, along with the option of a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
All-new Maruti Suzuki Swift
The current third-generation Swift has already reached the end of its life cycle, and the all-new fourth-generation model has already been spied on test on European roads. Compared to the current-gen Swift, the all-new model is said to get larger dimensions, but it will not compromise with the now-iconic silhouette and squatted stance of the car.
The all-new fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift will also get a reworked interior, with many new-gen features like a head-up display, wireless charger and side and curtain airbags. However, under the hood, it is expected to have the same heart in the form of the new-generation 1.2-litre four-cylinder K12C Dualjet 90 PS petrol engine.
