The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited took the entire nation by storm with its numerous SUV unveils at the 2023 Auto Expo. Now, following the unveiling of some of the most anticipated SUVs from the brand it has now been reported that most likely the company will be launching the SUV models by the middle of this year i.e 2023. The list of the three models that will get officially launched this year is as follows.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG
The first of the three SUV models that the company will be launching is the CNG iteration of its highly popular sub-compact SUV Brezza. Most likely this model will be having its official launch in the forthcoming weeks. Most likely it will be launched before the end of March. Some sources have claimed that it could come as early as the end of February as well.
The Brezza CNG at the Auto Expo 2023 was showcased finished in a unique satin blue color. The SUV will come powered by a 1.5L K15C petrol engine with a factory-installed CNG kit. The setup will reportedly produce 88PS and 121.5Nm of torque. The Brezza CNG is slightly less powerful and torquier than the conventional petrol variant like all the other CNG powered vehicles from Maruti Suzuki. The model will most likely get a mileage of 27 kilometres per kilogram. The CNG kit could be available with both a manual and an automatic transmission. As of yet not information is available about the variants of the SUV that will get the CNG but some reports claim that it could become available with all 7 variants.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx
According to sources most likely the company will be launching the all-new crossover SUV Fronx by the middle of March this year. The Fronx is one of the most ambitious and unique SUVs to be launched by the brand in recent few years. The crossover is a mix between the design of the elder flagship sibling the Grand Vitara and premium hatchback Baleno’s platform. Recently it was also announced that the model has received over 5,000 bookings so far.
The new crossover SUV will be available in five variants: Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha. Both the 1.2-liter, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine and the new three-cylinder, 1.0-liter turbo-petrol Boosterjet engine, both of which could come fitted with Maruti’s mild-hybrid technology, will be available as powertrain choices for the Fronx. The former produces 100 horsepower and 147.6 Nm, while the latter produces 90 horsepower and 113 Nm. The NA petrol engine could available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission, whilst the turbo-petrol engine could become available with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny
The most buzzing model from the brand the lifestyle off-roader Jimny five-door will be third SUV to go sale in India by the middle of this year. Most likely the model will be launched by end of May and some sources have stated that the date could be 24th of May for the official launch of the highly anticipated SUV. The Jimny has garnered a ton of attention from the Indian buyers and till date despite having a Rs 25,000 deposit the car has received over 15,000 reservations since its unveil at the Auto Expo 2023.
The brands only ladder-on-frame SUV will come equipped with with the Suzuki AllGrip Pro system, which includes 2H, 4H, and 4L low-range transfer gear. The time-tested 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated K15C Dualjet engine from Maruti Suzuki, which also powers the revised Ertiga and XL6 and the brand-new Brezza, will power the Jimny. This engine generates 134.2 Nm of maximum torque and 104.8 PS of maximum power when assisted by a mild hybrid system. While a 5-speed manual transmission will be available as standard, a 4-speed torque converter will also be made available as an option. The engine has been tweaked by Maruti Suzuki to make it better suited for off-road driving.
