According to a new report leaked online, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL) plans to launch a new 250-cc motorcycle next year. The upcoming Suzuki 250-cc motorcycle is expected to be called the Gixxer 250. Other than this, even the existing motorcycles in the Gixxer series, viz Gixxer 155 and Gixxer SF, will receive comprehensive updates.
Currently, the Gixxer range has been enjoying quite a lot of popularity in the premium 150-cc segment. The Gixxer 155 and the Gixxer SF are easily among the most well-sorted products in the segment. However, the above-200-cc segment has witnessed a strong growth. Also, the recently launched TVS Apache RTR 160 has been hogging a lot of limelight. Hence, a facelift is much-needed. Also, the 250-cc Gixxer can help SMIPL establish itself in the 200-250cc segment.
The 2019 Suzuki Gixxer 155 and Gixxer SF will come with many cosmetic updates. We expect the two motorcycles to look sharper and sportier than the current versions. Also, expect the motorcycles to have a longer list of features. In spite of the handful of updates, however, the two motorcycles will continue with their current monikers. It’s likely that the two motorcycles will come with a LED head lamp, a better fully digital speedo console, Suzuki Easy Start System and even split-seats. The Gixxer-duo already has the sportiest riding position in its segment and SMIPL is likely to further fine tune it.
Currently, one of the biggest negatives about these motorcycles is their stiff ride quality. There are good chances for the manufacturer focussing on improving the ride quality of the two motorcycles. At the same time, expect the well-sorted riding dynamics to be retained. The existing brakes and frames will be carried over to the updated motorcycles. However, the engine will receive some minor updates. You can safely expect a minor bump in power and the current high refinement levels. All these updates will make the motorcycles slightly pricier. Currently, the Suzuki Gixxer 155 has a starting price of Rs. 77,650. The Gixxer SF range, on the other hand, starts at Rs. 90,037. Expect both the motorcycles to cost up to Rs 3,000 higher.
