300 units of India-bound MG Air EV reach Indonesia for G20 Summit

Earlier this month, MG Motor had announced that they will be launching their mass market EV Air in the Indian market soon. The 2-door compact electric car is expected to go on sale in India by early 2023. The MG Air is based on the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture’s mini EV . It is a small electric runabout vehicle  called the Wuling EV. Wuling as a brand was introduced in Indonesia earlier this year and as part of the ongoing G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia, Wuling has shipped 300 units of Air EV. This is Wuling’s first ever EV to be introduced in the country. The manufacturer had announced the same few days ago and now an official video of the same has surfaced online.

The video shows how Wuling shipped 300 units of Air EV to Bali. The video starts by showing several Wuling Air EVs parked in the stockyard. All the EVs get G20 Summit livery on them. These EVs will be used to welcome government delegates who arrive for G20 Summit. After the final set of inspections, the Air EVs are laoded to trailers. Each trailer has 6 Wuling Air EVs in it. The trailer reaches the port for shipping and the EVs are all loaded from the trailer to the ship.

The ship then finally reaches the Port of Bali and the cars are all unloaded. From this point, all the EVs are driven to the venue. All the vehicles move like a convoy while the security vehicles clear the traffic. Wuling Air EV which will be known as MG Air EV is a very small yet futuristic looking electric car. The car comes with a very unique looking front-end. There is an LED bar that runs across the width of the car. There are couple of chrome strips surrounding the LED bar that extent to meet the ORVMs.

Just below the LED bar is the Wuling logo which will be replaced with an MG logo when it comes to India. The logo is actually placed on a small door to access the charging port. The sloping front-end gets twin pod LED headlamps and the bumper design goes well with the overall look of the car. The turn indicators are integrated with the bumper only. This small EV is finished in dual-tone. It gets a very interesting design. The Air EV gets flush door handles, vertically placed rectangular rear side window, large driver and co-driver side windows and so on.

The video does not show the interior of the Wuling Air EV however it is expected to come with a dual-tone theme just like the exterior. In terms of features, Air EV will get twin 10.25 inch digital screen, One for the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment. As this is a small EV, the cabin will cool down very fast. It would come with two AC vents and rotary knobs to control the AC settings. Other features like multi-function steering wheel, fabric seats and also offered with the car. MG is yet to provide more information regarding the range and electric motor. In China, the Wulng Air EV is offered in two configurations. There is a 40 Ps and 68 Ps variant. MG might bring both the variants and they are both expected to have a 300 km range on Chinese CLTC cycle
