30,000 Nissan Magnites Delivered!

Nissan India has announced that their sub-compact SUV offering Magnite has achieved a huge sales milestone for the company. Since the launch of the model in December 2020, it has garnered over 72,000 bookings. Out of which 30,000 Magnites have been delivered to date. With the 30,000th Magnite being delivered to the customer by Mr Guillaume Cartier, Nissan AMIEO Chairperson, for Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania region.

“I am pleased to handover the Nissan Global President Award to the Nissan India Operations for the successful launch of Nissan Magnite under the Nissan NEXT transformation plan. With this car we wanted to shake up the highly competitive compact SUV segment in India. The Nissan Magnite symbolizes Nissan’s commitment to driving innovation in India through daring design, technology and world class Indian manufacturing.”, said Mr Guillaume Cartier.

However, 42,000 customers are still anticipating the moment they could turn in their keys for the first time. Nissan has been overwhelmed by the response they have received from the Indian market, despite entering one of the most competitive segments of sub-compact SUVs. As the demand for the model surpassed the expectations of the Japanese manufacturer, it had to increase production. Although, the global chip shortage is still hindering the entire automotive sector.

The Magnite rivals the segment champions like the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza and Kia Sonnet, and a few others.

Nissan is consistently selling around 3000 Magnites a month and in the first seven months of the FY2022, it has already sold about 20,132 units. Nissan managed to sell 3,913 units in October 2021 and their best selling month yet was seen in July with 4,073 vehicles being sold.

One of the huge contributing factors to the success of the Nissan Magnite is the value for money that it provides. The Magnite is currently priced in the range of Rs 5.62 lakh to Rs 9.94 lakh ex-showroom, which is on a very competitive side. Along with that, comes the lowest-in-class maintenance, in which the cost comes down to a mere 30 paise/km (for 50,000 km). Which has proven to attract a lot of Indian buyers.

The Magnite comes loaded with features like LED bi-projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and foldable wing mirrors, roof-rails as well as front and rear faux skid plates.

Moreover, it comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, and a 7 inch TFT display unit for the instrument cluster. Voice recognition technology, push-button start, cruise control, a 360-degree around-view camera, tire pressure monitor, and all-black interior are some of the highlight features.

The Nissan Magnite comes with an option between two petrol drivetrains, the first one being a 1.0 litre 3 cylinder, naturally aspirated powerplant which produces 72 bhp and 96 Nm of torque. While the other is a 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder turbo petrol unit that churns out 100 bhp and 160 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard across the range. However, there is an option of a CVT transmission for the turbo petrol variant.
