4 New Ford Cars coming your way before Mid-2016

Snapshot – Back in 2011, Ford India announced that it would launch no less than 8 new products by 2015. The list of new launches began with the Fiesta sedan, which has just seen a mid life facelift, 3 years after its initial launch. Ford followed the Fiesta with the EcoSport in 2013. In essence, 2015 is fast approaching with Ford nowhere near its target of launching 8 new products here. The reason for the delay in product launches isn’t hard to explain.
The Indian car market is going through a trough of sorts, and most car makers have scaled down their launch plans for the short term. Ford is one such automaker which has scaled down the intensity of new car launches. However, this isn’t to say that Ford isn’t bullish on India. The American automaker will still launch about 4 new products by the end of 2016 and CarToq will give you a gist of what’s new from Ford India.

2015 Figo Hatchback

Ford resurrected itself in India with the 2010 Figo hatchback and the car’s next generation model will take the American automaker further. Due for a launch in April 2015, the next-generation Figo hatchback will use the same B2E platform as the outgoing variant, albeit with a new top hat design. Already on Brazilian roads, the new Figo will offer a range of connectivity options, and new petrol and turbo diesel engine options, in a sub-4 meter package. The 2015 Figo’s petrol motor will be a non-turbo derivative of the 1 liter EcoBoost motor while the turbo diesel engine will be the 1.5 liter TDCI unit. The new, 2015 Figo will replace the current model, at a similar price positioning.

2015 Figo Compact Sedan

The 2015 Figo hatchback’s previous-generation Fiesta platform will underpin a new. sub 4 meter compact sedan. First unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo in concept guise, the 2015 Figo compact sedan will be launched in India sometime next year. Like the 2015 Figo hatchback, the sub-4 meter car will roll out from Ford’s spanking new Sanand factory, which will begin production trials from the end of this year. The 2015 Figo compact sedan will replace the Classic and will take on the likes of the Maruti Dzire and the Tata Zest. The Figo compact sedan is expected to share its engines and interiors with its hatchback sibling. A starting price close to the 5 lakh rupee mark is anticipated.

2015 Ford Endeavour

Ford’s Endeavour luxury SUV will hop onto a new generation by the end of next year. The 2015 Endeavour, based on the new Ford Ranger platform, will continue to use a ladder frame chassis. However, the design of the SUV will see a big shift, with the 2015 Endeavour adopting Ford’s global design philosophy. The SUV will be assembled in India through the CKD kit route and will feature turbo diesel engine options. Manual and automatic transmissions, and rear wheel drive and four wheel drive layouts are likely to be offered on the 2015 Endeavour, which will see upmarket interiors and a host of connectivity options. The pricing of the new SUV is expected to be a tad higher than the model it replaces. The 2015 Endeavour range could start from 22 lakh rupees.

2016 Figo MPV

Come 2016, the new-generation 2015 Figo platform’s versatility will be on full display as an MPV will join the hatchback and compact sedan duo. The troika of cars will share the 2015 Figo’s underpinnings. The MPV from Ford will be aimed at the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Honda Mobilio, and will be the first MPV from the American automaker for the Indian market. The Figo-based MPV is expected to seat 7 adults and share substantial parts with its hatchback sibling. Like Honda has the Brio-Amaze-Mobilio, Ford will have the Figo hatchback-compact-sedan-MPV line up in a couple of years. Like the 2015 Figo hatchback and compact sedan, the MPV is expected to roll out from Ford’s new, Sanand factory.
