The Escort was the first car that Ford launched in the Indian market. It was launched in 1995 and was discontinued in 2001. But it was got popular like Ford hoped it to. It was offered with a petrol and diesel engine. There was ample amount of space on offer with spacious boot space and a decent feature list too. It offered power windows for the front occupants, air conditioning, music system, power steering and electric adjustment for outside rearview mirrors.

Fiesta is a well-known name in the Indian market. But not many people know that Ford also launched a sportier version which was called Fiesta S. It came with a body kit that made the sedan look sportier. Moreover, there were mechanical changes too. The Fiesta S had a stiffer suspension which many enthusiasts love because it made Fiesta handle well.

It was 2004 when Ford decided that they want to pick a fight with german automobile manufacturers. So, they brought in the Mondeo to take on the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and BMW 3 Series. It was powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produced 128 bhp of max power, there was also a 2.0-litre petrol engine on offer that produced 142 bhp of max power. But people were not ready to take a Ford badged vehicle that was priced so high. Because of this, the Mondeo was discontinued in 2006.

Ford Fiesta Facelift

Ford decided they need to update the design of the Fiesta so they launched a facelift of the sedan in 2014. It came with hexagonal grille that looked like it was taken from Aston Martin. Then there was its design, it was just not a good looking car, many people started comparing it to the pre-facelift Fiesta which looked absolutely gorgeous in front of the Fiesta facelift. The facelifted version just looked bulbous because of its body work and sleek headlamps.

However, it drove well, the steering was sharp and the handling was great. The diesel engine had minimal turbo lag. It was a 1.5-litre unit that produced 89 bhp of max power and 205 Nm of peak torque. But it had to compete against the Honda City which was a segment king at that time.

The Fusion can be considered as the first crossover and many people even consider Fusion to be the firs compact SUV. It looked like a large hatchback but it was not able to take buyers from SUVs. But still, it was a spacious vehicle with a large boot. It was launched in 2004 and stayed in production for six years. It came with a 1.4-litre diesel engine and a 1.6-litre petrol engine. You can still spot a Ford Fusion on Indian roads if you are lucky.
