Hyundai Creta sales blast past the 5 lakh units mark in India

Hyundai Creta has surpassed 5 lakh sales in India. The manufacturer has shared this information through a video, they uploaded on YouTube. The Creta got an all-new generation in 2020 which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. Despite the design being drastically different than the previous one, the sales of the Creta did not slow down. In fact, it was able to gather 65,000 bookings in a very short period of time and Hyundai leads the SUV market by registering 34,212 units of sale from April 2020 to July 2020. They currently have 4 SUVs in their portfolio, namely the Venue, Creta, Tucson and the Kona Electric.

It has been the best selling mid-size SUV in India since its launch. Yes, the first position was lost to competitors like the MG Hector and the Kia Seltos but by launching the 2020 Creta in March, the SUV took its spot again. More than 60 percent of bookings were for the diesel versions showing that there is still a demand for diesel SUVs. The Creta that is manufactured in India is sold in 88 countries. The manufacturer has priced the Creta at Rs. 9.81 lakhs ex-showroom for the base variant and it goes all the way upto Rs. 17.31 lakhs ex-showroom for the top-end variant. The Creta is offered in 5 variants, namely E, EX, S, SX and SX(O).

Hyundai ensured that there is a Creta available for everyone. So, they are offering loads of engine and transmission options. There are three engine options you can choose from. There is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.4-litre turbocharged, direct-injection petrol engine. The naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 115 PS of max power and 144 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission. Then there is the 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 115 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 250 Nm. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Finally, there is the 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 140 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 242 Nm. It is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox only. These are the same engines and transmissions which are also available with the Kia Seltos.

It comes with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, electrical adjustment for the driver seat, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, connected car technology and much more. Hyundai is currently working on launching a 7-seater version of the Creta that they might call Alcazar. They will offer the same engine options as the Creta.
