5 new Mahindra SUVs launching soon

Mahindra’s new vehicles have been incredibly successful in our Indian market. The XUV700 and the new-gen Thar are selling like hotcakes right now. They are currently working on more SUVs to strengthen their line-up. Here are 5 new Mahindra SUVs that will be launching in the future.

All-new Scorpio

The first launch from the homegrown manufacturer will be the all-new generation of Scorpio. It will be based on a reworked ladder frame chassis. So, we can expect the 2022 Scorpio to have better ride quality than the current one. The dimensions will also be larger than the current Scorpio. However, it will still come with a side-hinged rear tailgate.

Up-front there will be a twin-pod LED headlamp with projector units. Mahindra will be using their 6 vertical slat grille that we have seen on other Mahindra vehicles. The design will still be boxy with a flat bonnet and roof rails. 2022 Scorpio will be offered with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both will be offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox or a 6-speed manual gearbox.

5-door Thar

Mahindra has started working on a 5-door version of the Thar. It is expected to launch sometime in 2023. The wheelbase of the 5-door Thar will be longer to accommodate the rear doors but most of the design will stay the same. Mahindra will improve the ride quality of the 5-door Thar because it will be mostly used for the city commutes. The 3-door Thar then will be made only on special orders. The steering wheel will also be lighter when compared to the 3-door Thar. We do not expect any changes to the engine and gearbox.

XUV900 Coupe

The XUV900 Coupe will be the new flagship of Mahindra. XUV900 will be a SUV Coupe just like BMW X6, Porsche Cayenne Coupe and Audi Q8. The roofline will drop sharply after the C-pillar to give that coupe look but without compromising on the headroom. However, currently, the design of the XUV900 is a bit awkward and Mahindra is working on improving the design. eKUV100

Mahindra first showcased the electric version of the KUV100 at the Auto Expo 2020. The homegrown manufacturer has already started testing the eKUV100 on our Indian roads. There are not many changes cosmetically except for blue accents.

The electric micro SUV is expected to come with a range of around 147 km. So, it will be aimed towards people who will be using it for daily short commutes. There will be a 15.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and the electric motor will be able to produce a 15.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The price of the eKUV100 is expected to be around Rs. 8.5 lakhs ex-showroom.

XUV700 Hybrid

According to the latest rumours, Mahindra is working on a hybrid version of the XUV700. However, it is not yet confirmed whether it will be a plug-in hybrid, pure EV or mild hybrid. The hybrid technology would help in decreasing emissions and increasing fuel efficiency.
