India’s largest car seller, Maruti Suzuki, has almost 50% of the market share. To keep the customers engaged, Maruti Suzuki keeps their fleet updated. Maruti Suzuki India will launch a number of cars in the coming months to keep the line-up up to date. Here are all the cars that will be launched soon by the brand and their timelines.
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz
Expected launch date: August 2018
Maruti Suzuki is extensively testing the upcoming Ciaz and it has been caught testing numerous times. The facelifted version of the Ciaz will get a new front and rear end. Even though Suzuki has updated the Ciaz in the international markets, in India, the car may get a different look.
Maruti is working on an all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine and it is expected that Maruti will introduce the all-new engine with the Ciaz. An all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine is expected to replace the current 1.4-litre petrol engine. The all-new Ciaz is expected to get new bumpers, new headlamps and new tail lamps and refreshed interiors.
Maruti Ertiga
Expected launch date: September 2018
Suzuki has already launched the all-new Ertiga in the Indonesian market and the same is expected in the Indian market soon. The all-new Ertiga is based on the HEARTECT platform that also underpins the Baleno and the all-new Swift.
The upcoming MPV from Maruti will be larger than the current version of the car. It will get the all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine that the manufacturer will introduce with the Ciaz. The all-new Ertiga is expected to get plush interiors and automatic transmission with both petrol and diesel engine options.
Maruti WagonR
Expected launch date: Early 2019
The all-new WagonR will replace the current version of the car by an all-new version that will be launched in the first-quarter of 2019. The all-new WagonR in India is expected to get the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) inspired design. However, the engine is expected to remain the same. What this means is that Maruti will utilise the same 1.0-litre petrol engine that generates a maximum of 67 Bhp and 90 Nm. The all-new WagonR will also get standard front driver airbag and ABS, which will become mandatory in cars sold in India from 2019.
Maruti Alto
Expected launch: February 2019
Maruti will launch the all-new Alto in February 2019. The design has not been revealed yet, but Maruti Suzuki is expected to take cues from the Suzuki’s domestic market’s design. However, the engine is expected to be different from the international version. In Japan, the Alto is powered by a 660-cc engine that produces a maximum of 51 Bhp and 63 Nm. However, in the Indian market, the specifications may change to suit the fuel-efficiency-friendly market.
Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol
Expected launch: 2019
The Maruti Vitara Brezza is the largest selling car in the segment despite limitations like no petrol engine. Maruti will launch the Vitara Brezza petrol by next year to gain more traction in the market. The Vitara Brezza petrol is expected to get a 1.5-litre petrol engine with the hybrid system similar to the one we see with the Ciaz diesel. The new Brezza petrol will be powered by the all-new K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine and will get a hybrid system too. The micro-hybrid system will increase the fuel efficiency of the compact SUV, probably making it the most efficient in the segment.
