With the rising popularity of SUVs in the Indian market, the manufacturers have started giving more attention to them. Tata Motors, which already offers highly successful Nexon and the recently launched Tata Harrier in the Indian market will launch as many as five new SUVs in the Indian market in the coming times. These upcoming products will be launched in various segments in the future. Here are all the details that you need to know about the upcoming Tata SUVs.
Tata H7X
Expected launch: End 2019

Tata will launch the all-new H7X, which is based on the Tata Harrier platform. Tata will reveal the car at Geneva Motor Show and has already released a teaser video of the vehicle. The H7X will be a more extended version of the Harrier, and it will get three-row seating. The teaser image also reveals the upper body design of the H7X. It will get a straighter roofline that will give more headroom to the third-row passengers. The official name of the H7X is yet to announced, but as per reports, it will be known as the Buzzard. The H7X will share the engine and transmission with the Tata Harrier. However, instead of the 140 PS output, the H7X can get a higher state of tune.
Tata Hornbill
Expected launch: 2020
The Tata Hornbill will become the most-affordable SUV in the line-up of Tata. It will be positioned below the Nexon and will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. The Hornbill will get the new-age IMPACT 2.0 design that first came out with the Tata Harrier. It will get powered by the 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.05-litre diesel engine options that are also available with the Tata Tiago.
Tata Blackbird
Expected launch: 2021
With the growing popularity of the SUVs, Tata has discarded the plan to launch a mid-size sedan to take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City. Instead, they will develop an all-new SUV that will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta in the market. The all-new SUV will be based on the Tata’s Alpha platform that will also underpin the upcoming Tata Altroz premium hatchback. It will be launched to bridge the gap between the Nexon and the Harrier. Tata is likely to power the production version of Blackbird with the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine option. However, the engines are expected to be more powerful than the Nexon.
Tata Nexon JTP
Expected launch: Mid 2019
Tata launched the high-performance versions of the Tiago and the Tigor in the Indian market. After the Tiago JTP and the Tigor JTP, Tata will launch the high-performance variant of the Nexon in the coming times. The high-performance version of the Nexon is expected to get a body kit that will make it look sportier and a more powerful version of the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The Tiago JTP gets 112 Bhp from the same engine, but Nexon JTP may get around 120 Bhp.
Tata Harrier AT/petrol
Expected launch: End 2019
Tata Harrier currently offers only one engine-transmission pair. It gets powered by the 2.0-litre diesel engine that develops a maximum power of 140 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm. The engine gets paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. Soon, Tata is expected to launch the Harrier equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission sourced from Hyundai in the Indian market. Tata is also expcted to offer a petrol-powered Harrier in the market in the coming times but the engine details are not known yet.
