6 features that make the new Volkswagen Jetta an attractive car

Volkswagen has launched the new Jetta in four variants; Trendline, Comfortline, Highline manual and DSG gearbox priced between Rs. 14.12 lakh and Rs. 18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The facelifted Jetta has a lot of changes, both on the exterior and the interior. Here, we take a look at the features and gadgets offered in the Highline variant of the new Jetta.

Multi function steering wheel: The Jetta’s leather-wrapped steering wheel is adjustable for both rake and reach. It has controls for the MFD (Multi-Function Display) and the audio system. The steering also sports a paddle shift behind it. The instrument dials for speed and engine rev counter, have large, easily readable fonts while the MFD displays a host of information in a clear layout. Read our Jetta launch story here

Leather seats and rear AC vent: The new Jetta welcomes you with plush, leather-stitched upholstery consisting of corn silk beige (ND) leatherette and cornsilk beige (JP) fabrics. The materials used are of high quality and the fit and finish is typically Volkswagen. The front seats have good overall support. The rear seats have an optimal recline angle for comfort while the two rear AC vents placed in between the front seats helps the cabin chill quickly.

Safety features: The new Jetta is loaded with eight airbags giving maximum protection to the driver and passengers. The eight airbags consists of a curtain airbag system for front and rear passengers, front and rear seat side airbags and the standard driver and front passenger airbags with a passenger airbag deactivation switch. Further, the new Jetta has ABS, ESP, EDL (Electronic Differential Lock) and Traction control for better control and stability.

Infotainment system and climate control: The refreshed Jetta is equipped with a music system at the middle of the centre console and an automatic climate control at the bottom. Volkswagen offers the RCD 510 radio/dash-mounted music system which is MP3 compatible. The music system includes a six CD auto-changer and is connected to 8 speakers. It features a large, 6.5” color display with easy menu navigation and touch screen operation. It also includes aux-in port, SD memory card slot and adapter cable for connection to external media sources. The infotainment system also displays the car’s position while parking.

Smart features: The driver seat of the Jetta is 12-way electrically adjustable which means the seat height, back rest, seat incline and lumbar support can all be adjusted to suit drivers of different builds. Moreover the Jetta’s glove box has a mobile device interface with a media-in adapter cable. The central armrest at the front has a storage space inside while the rear central armrest gets two cup holders.

Expandable storage space: The Jetta has a 510 litre boot that can be extended by folding the rear seats either completely or using the 60:40 split ratio. The boot can be accessed by rear passengers through a small provision once the central armrest is folded down.
