6 new cars & SUVs launching this month: Kia Sonet to Mahindra Thar

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns to slow the spread, the businesses across the world have suffered majorly. Even the automobile market of India has suffered from the impact of the lockdowns. However, the sales are gaining momentum slowly and manufacturers are planning to launch new vehicles in the market. In the month of August, there are as many as five car launches from various manufacturers in India. Here is a list of all the five launches that will happen this month.

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross

Launch: 5th August

Maruti Suzuki showcased the S-Cross petrol at the 2020 Auto Expo and the car was expected to be launched much earlier. However, it got delayed due to the lockdowns related to the pandemic. The now-discontinued version of the S-Cross was only powered by a 1.3-litre diesel engine, which has been discontinued. Maruti Suzuki will now offer the 1.5litre petrol engine with the S-Cross and it will also get SHVS smart hybrid system. We will also get to see an automatic transmission with the S-Cross for the first time.

Kia Sonet

Launch: 7th August

 

Kia will launch its third car in the Indian market – the Sonet sub-4m compact SUV on 7th August. The car was displayed as a concept model at the 2020 Auto Expo. Kia will announce the price and all the details related to the car in a few days. It will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue and more. It will get both petrol and diesel engine options and will get multiple automatic transmission options too.

Mahindra Thar

Launch: 15th August

Mahindra will officially unveil the all-new Mahindra Thar. The highly anticipated car has been caught on test multiple times on the roads. The all-new vehicle will get a new platform and will come with two options – soft top and hard top. Mahindra will also revamp the cabin completely and make the Thar more suitable for daily use. It will also get an automatic transmission for the first time. Also, we will get to see a petrol engine with all-new Thar.

Toyota Urban Cruiser

Launch: End August

 

Toyota will officially launch its second rebadged product to come out of the partnership with Suzuki. After the Glanza, which is based on the Baleno, Toyota will offer the Urban Cruiser based on the Brezza. However, unlike the Glanza, the Urban Cruiser will offer many more changes and is likely to be tweaked to look slightly different from the Brezza.

Renault Duster

Launch: End August

Renault Duster Turbo 2

Renault showcased the high-performance Duster powered by the 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine at the 2020 Auto Expo. The car is ready to be launched and it will be the most powerful car in the segment. The 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces a maximum power of 153 Bhp and peak torque of 250 Nm. it will come with a 6-speed manual and an optional CVT.

Honda Jazz Facelift

Launch: End August

Honda will launch the facelifted version of the Jazz later this month in the market. The new car will come with minor tweaks that make it look up to date in the market. The new Jazz will be available only with a petrol engine at the time of the launch.
