And its that time of the year again when there are a slew of launches planned. With the coming of the festive season, manufacturers plan their important launches so as to see a boost in sales. Here are 6 SUVs/crossovers that we will see on Indian roads in the next two months:
Ford Ecosport
Globally, a new Ecosport has been introduced earlier in the year which is yet to make its Indian debut. The vehicle is expected to be launched in September. While it was initially believed that only the looks were being updated, it is now known that there is a new range of engines that are going to be offered on the Ecosport too. The new vehicle will come with a range of 1.2 and 1.5 liter engines which have an estimated output ranging from 99-128 Bhp.
The interiors will be given a complete makeover with a touch screen system replacing the current cluttered dashboard. The new system will also be equipped with Apple Car play and Android auto. We will know more details when the vehicle is officially unveiled next month.
Mahindra KUV100
The KUV100, which is the company’s smallest vehicle, is all set to get an update. While the company introduced the KUV in 2016, it hasn’t got as much success as they’d have hoped for and they are working on an a facelift. The KUV will get a new front end with a different grille, bumper and new headlamps. Other changes are not yet known as the interiors weren’t spied, but the company could spruce them up as well. Under the hood, the same 1.2 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engines are expected.
Skoda Kodiaq
Skoda will launch their latest and flagship vehicle, the Kodiaq next month. The company will be unveiling the car on the 10th of this month, which is when we will know more details about the exact spec that the Indian version will get. It is believed that Skoda will offer both a 2 and 4wd version of the Kodiaq. We also expect the more powerful 184 Bhp state of tune to be on offer on the Kodiaq. The Kodiaq will be placed around the Rs 30 lakh mark and will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
Maruti S-Cross
Maruti will be launching a new facelift of the S-Cross, the company’s crossover which takes on the Hyundai Creta. The new version was introduced earlier last year internationally which included new exteriors as well as interiors. The same is going to be launched in India in September. The S-Cross may even get an all-new 1.5 liter petrol engine, which is being developed for the company’s larger vehicles.
Renault Kaptur
Renault will also be introducing the all-new Kaptur in September. The company has already held a few clinics to showcase the vehicle. A few details that we do know are that Renault is trying to undercut the Compass with the pricing of the Kaptur. It will have LED DRLs, LED tail lamps and LED foglamps. It will also be on offer in 5 seater guise only, as opposed to the 7 seater that was previously rumored. It will feature 17″ rims, will get cruise control and will have 215 mm ground clearance. Details on the engine weren’t revealed, however the engines from the Duster and a new 1.6 liter unit maybe offered on the Kaptur.
Tata Nexon
Tata’s first attempt at the compact SUV market, the Nexon will be introduced in September. The media drives have already taken place and the company has released a lot of information on the SUV, expect the pricing. The Nexon will be offered with a new 1.2 liter turbo petrol unit making 108 Bhp and 170 Nm while the diesel will also be a new 1.5 liter unit making 108 Bhp and 260 Nm. Both engines will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox (manual only as of now). It will be compatible with both Apple Car play (at a later date) and Android auto. The company may undercut the Brezza with the pricing of the Nexon.
