It is not clear what all updates the new Micra will carry. Nissan has announced that they will launch connected cars system in India that will offer features like service reminder, GPS tracking and vehicle diagnostics to user’s phone. Hyundai will bring the all-new Verna into the market soon. Verna competes against the likes of Honda City and Maruti Ciaz, both of which got updated recently. The all-new Verna, however, will get bigger changes. There will be LED DRLs and an all-new headlamp cluster. Hyundai will also put new bumpers and a larger grille.
At the rear, the new Verna will get split tail lamps and a new boot design. On the inside, the 2017 Verna gets touch-screen infotainment system with navigation and Android Auto. Hyundai is expected to keep the current lineup of 1.4-litre petrol, diesel and 1.6-litre petrol, diesel engines in the line-up. We may also see a mild-hybrid version of the vehicle to take on the Ciaz.
Skoda has a list of models that will be launched in India this year. The new Octavia is one of them. Skoda updated the Octavia last year in the international market. In India, the company has already started the production at their Aurangabad plant. The new Octavia will feature a split headlamp unit. The headlamp unit gets LED DRLs at the bottom similar to Skoda Superb. The car also comes with revised bumper and fog lamp housing.
On the inside, the Octavia gets minimal changes. The biggest highlight is the 9.2-inch touch-sensitive screen. The Octavia also gets ambient lighting. The 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is already on offer with the current version will continue to be offered with the new model. There are doubts over the bigger 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine as of now. The diesel engine will be the 2.0-litre unit.
Mercedes-Benz E 220d
Mercedes-Benz launched the new E-Class Long Wheel Base (LWB) in India some time back. The German manufacturer will now bring the more affordable variant of their best-selling model in India. The E-Class 220d will become the entry-level diesel variant of the model.
The car will also mark the debut of a new 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that will replace the 2.1-litre engine globally. The new engine develops a maximum power of 194 Bhp and 400 Nm of maximum torque. It comes with the highly acclaimed 9-speed gearbox. The price of the diesel variant is expected to be close to the petrol variants.
The all-new 5-Series will enter the Indian market by the end of next month. The new 5-Series has been updated thoroughly with new looks and technology-laden interiors. The new 5-Series looks like a shrunken down 7-Series. The new 5-Series will offer all-LED headlamps with optional adaptive LED feature. The car gets minor changes to the bumper and body that makes it look fresh.
On the inside, the BMW 5-Series gets the all-new iDrive system with gesture control, electrically adjustable seats with massage function and four-zone climate control. The 5-Series will also offer remote parking feature. There will be three engine options with the new 5-Series. A 2.0-litre diesel engine will be offered with the lowered variants while the top-of-the-line variants will be powered by 6-cylinder diesel engine. BMW may also bring in the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine.
Skoda Octavia vRS
Some reports suggest that Skoda may also launch the more powerful version of the Octavia next month. The Octavia vRS badge will make a comeback in India after a long time. The all-new vRS looks similar to the facelift version of the Octavia but gets extensive changes like the black grille, smoked headlamps, all-new alloy wheels that make it look much more sportier.
The vRS may get powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 227 Bhp and 350 Nm of maximum torque. Skoda could also bring the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces a maximum of 182 Bhp and 380 Nm.
