2017 is winding down and car makers have lined up their last few launches of the year in November. No less than 7 new cars and SUVs will be launched in the next couple of weeks. Here’s a quick run through of what’s new.
Renault will launch the Captur on the 6th of November. The Captur will sit above the Renault Duster in terms of price and positioning but will share the former’s engines, transmissions and B0 (B-Zero) platform. Unlike the Duster, the Captur will not get automatic options at launch though. Prices are likely to start from Rs. 12 lakh, and the new Renault will take on the Hyundai Creta and the Mahindra XUV500.
Ford EcoSport Facelift
On the 9th of November, Ford will launch the facelifted EcoSport, a sub-4 meter Compact SUV that’ll square off against the Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Tata Nexon. The facelifted SUV will get a brand new, 1.5 liter-3 cylinder petrol engine while the 1.5 liter TDCI turbo diesel engine will be carried over from the older version. The EcoSport will get petrol-automatic, petrol-manual and diesel-manual powertrain combinations. Prices are likely to start from a little over 7 lakh rupees.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio X
The Celerio X is a butch version of the recently facelifted hatchback. Changes will primarily be stylistic. On the outside, the car will get a beefed up bumpers at the front and the rear, and additional cladding. A new dual tone interior scheme will be the major change on the inside. The car will use a 1 liter-3 cylinder petrol engine with manual gearbox and AMT options. It’s likely to command a slight premium over the regular Celerio. Bookings are now open, with the launch set to happen within the next few days.
Mahindra Scorpio Facelift
Mahindra will give the Scorpio a minor nip and tuck to make it look fresher. The bigger change will be under the hood, where the Scorpio will get a 2.2 liter mHawk turbo diesel engine with 140 Bhp and 330 Nm on tap – a tune similar to that on the XUV500.
Apart from a manual gearbox, the Scorpio could also be offered with a 6 speed AISIN torque converter automatic gearbox, a feature that was dropped earlier. The SUV will be launched in the middle of November. Prices (9.93 lakhs to 15.56 lakhs) are expected to remain more or less unchanged from those of the current version.
Mercedes Benz CLA 45 AMG
Mercedes Benz will re-launch the CLA 45 AMG high-performance sedan in India, on the 7th of November. This car’s 2017 edition will pack in a 2 liter turbocharged petrol engine with 375 Bhp and 475 Nm, enough to shame many sportscars. A 7 speed twin clutch automatic gearbox and an all wheel drive system will be standard. The car will be imported through the completely built unit (CBU) route, with its price likely to be pegged at 70 lakh rupees.
Mercedes Benz GLA 45 AMG
Love the performance of the CLA 45 AMG but want some more ground clearance? Enter the GLA 45 AMG – a crossover that offers everything that its sedan sibling does, but with more ground clearance and street presence. The GLA 45 AMG will share its engine and transmission with the sedan. It’ll be priced at par with the sedan, at around the 70 lakh rupee mark. It’ll launch on the same day as the sedan.
Lexus’ smallest SUV – the NX300h – will be launched in India on the 17th of November. A petrol-hybrid, the car will use a 2.5 liter petrol engine along with an electric motor. The combination will output about 202 Bhp-215 Nm. Transmission is a CVT automatic. A CBU import, the NX300h will be priced nearly double of its competitors such as the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. Prices are likely to start from Rs. 75 lakhs.
