Maruti Suzuki launched the new Swift earlier this year. However, its new car onslaught is far from over. The company plans to launch at least 7 new cars in the next one year. Here are complete details of the upcoming Maruti Cars in India.
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift
The much-awaited Ciaz facelift will come with an all-new styling and probably many new features by this year’s festive season. The updated Maruti Ciaz will have a comprehensive makeover for the front-end. The rear-end will also get some new styling bits like an updated set of tail lamps. On the inside, we expect this car to get an upholstery change and some new features. Also, it’s very likely to get a set of new motors, at least sometime after its launch. These engines will be more powerful than the current 1.4-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre diesel motors.
New Maruti Ertiga
Maruti Suzuki will launch the new generation Ertiga MPV around August this year. The next-gen Ertiga will be based on the company’s lightweight HEARTECT platform. This will help the MPV become lighter and more efficient than before. Also, the new car will be bigger and hence, will offer more cabin space. This will help the MPV fill the void left by the last-gen Innova. This also means that the Ertiga will be positioned in a higher segment, where it is likely to compete with the upcoming Mahindra U321 MPV.
New Maruti WagonR
Even the hot-selling Maruti WagonR will get a complete model replacement later this year. The upcoming next-gen WagonR is likely to be based on the HEARTECT platform. Hence, the new car will be lighter and more fuel efficient. Also, the next-gen WagonR will even have a seven-seat variant! The higher seating capacity will help the tallboy find more buyers. The current 1.0-liter three-pot K10 petrol engine will be carried over. However, it will be updated to meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. AMT will be carried over, too.
Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol
We saw a rally-spec Brezza at the Auto Expo 2018 but the much-awaited petrol variant is yet to break covers. The company has already hinted at its plan of launching the Brezza petrol later this year. Powering the upcoming variant will be the same 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Baleno RS hatchback. The upcoming petrol variant will help the Brezza find more takers.
New Maruti Alto
Even the Alto, which is the company’s bread and butter model, will be replaced with an all-new version. Details of the upcoming new-gen Alto are very scarce at the moment but there are good chances that even the new Alto would be lighter and hence, have a higher mileage. Moreover, it will have a BS6-compliant engine and even offer better crash protection.
Maruti Swift Sport
The Maruti Swift has always been sportier than many other hatchbacks in its segment. Now, it looks like the company is all set to give India a taste of the sportiest Swift ever with the launch of the 2018 Swift Sport. The Swift Sport is powered by a 1.4-liter BoosterJet turbocharged petrol engine that produces a max power of 140 Bhp along with a peak torque of 230 Nm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The powerful petrol engine, along with the light weight of the car, should make the Swift Sport a lot of fun. There are good chances that the Swift Sport will become the fastest affordable hot-hatch in India.
While the Vitara Brezza has been the king of sub-4m compact SUV segment, the Hyundai Creta has been the undisputed leader of the next segment. However, things might change with the launch of the new Vitara SUV. The new Vitara will be a modern small SUV that will get its power from the same 1.4-liter turbo petrol engine that will power the Swift. It will also offer a 1.6-liter Multijet diesel engine. It won’t be as big as the Creta but will offer many features and a comfortable cabin. Also, trust Maruti to price this car really aggressively.
So, which of these upcoming Maruti cars in India are you waiting for?
