With the festive season around the corners, car manufacturers are bracing up with the launches to attract as many customers as they can. While there will be a slew of car launches in the upcoming months, a range of new SUVs will also take on the Indian roads. We bring you all the upcoming SUVs that will be launched in India during the festive season.
Tata Nexon
The Nexon is the first compact SUV from Tata. Even though Tata is entering the sub-4 meter compact SUV genre a quite late, the Nexon seems to be a powerful contender. The Nexon looks quite bold and sporty exteriors with dual tone body color. On the inside, the car is equipped with features like floating 6.5-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and CarPlay, driving modes and smart spaces.
The Nexon will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre three cylinder engine that produces a maximum power of 108 Bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine is a four-cylinder unit developed by Tata. It generates 108 Bhp – 260 Nm. Both the engines come with 6-speed manual transmission.
Maruti S-Cross
Maruti S-Cross is the most premium offering from Maruti in India. The crossover could not attract as many people in the market as Maruti’s other vehicles. However, Maruti will bring in a facelift model of the S-Cross to keep the product fresh. The new car will get a lot of updates on the outside and the inside.
The new S-Cross will get a new vertically slatted grille. There is also a new set of headlamps with LED DRLs and projectors. The bumper is new as well. The S-Cross also gets revised tail lamps. On the inside, the car gets a new infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is a lot of speculations on the engines of the S-Cross. Reportedly, the S-Cross will discontinue the 1.6-litre engine and will only offer a newly developed 1.5-litre engine.
Ford EcoSport
India’s first successful sub 4-meter compact SUV has been around for a long time now. Keeping up with the competitors in the market like Maruti Brezza, Ford will launch an updated and facelifted version of the vehicle soon. The new EcoSport look sportier with a new, larger grille. The headlamps have been updated too. There have been minor changes all around the vehicle to keep it fresh.
On the inside, the Ford EcoSport gets all-new SYNC3 infotainment system that gets a touch-sensitive screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The car will also get all-new petrol engines. Ford will ditch the 1.5-litre four cylinder engine in favor of a new 1.5-litre three cylinder Dragon petrol engine. The diesel engine is likely to stay same as before.
Renault Captur
After Renault’s successful run with the Duster in India, the French brand is now planning to launch the Creta-rivalling Captur in India. The car is built on the robust M0 platform that also underpins the Renault Duster. The highly anticipated vehicle gets a very flowing design alongside a few premium bits like DRLs integrated into the bumper.
The Captur is expected to be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options that are available with the Duster. However, Renault is expected to re-tune the engine to provide more power to the Kaptur.
Skoda Kodiaq
Skoda will re-enter the SUV segment in India with the launch of its latest vehicle, the Kodiaq. The premium SUV is based on the Skoda Superb platform; the Kodiaq will take on the likes of Volkswagen Tiguan in the market. The Kodiaq gets very European design elements and looks very sophisticated with the DRLs and split tail lamps.
The SUV also gets 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto system. Skoda will launch both petrol and diesel engines with the Kodiaq. The petrol unit is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power of 177 Bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine is available in two states of tune, 147 Bhp – 340 Nm and 187 Bhp – 400 Nm. India will most likely get the 147 Bhp version.
Land Rover Range Rover Velar
Velar is the latest vehicle that is being offered by the British marque in India. The premium SUV made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and is expected to be launched later this month in the Indian market.
The Velar will be placed between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport in the market. The price will be announced on 21st September in India. In India, the Velar will be powered by 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine that produces a maximum of 250 Bhp and a 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine that produces a maximum of 180 Bhp or 240 Bhp depending on the tune.
Volvo XC60
Volvo will bring their all-new XC60 to India this November. The mid-sized premium SUV takes on the vehicles like Audi Q5, BMW X3, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC. The XC60 gets a lot of design elements from the XC90 and also gets the ‘Thor’ LED DRLs.
On the inside, the car gets a large touch-screen infotainment similar to the XC90. It also gets seven airbags, ABS and EBD as standard. The car will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 232 Bhp and 480 Nm.
