The festive season of each year sees a flurry of car makers competing with each other to bring out special edition versions of existing cars and SUVs. These special editions serve to infuse some excitement around cars and SUVs that are already a couple of years old in the market. In some cases, such variants also form a part of a stock clearance exercise, paving way for a new model. Today, we a take a look at 7 special edition/upgraded cars and SUVs that you can buy during this year’s festive season.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Paseo
Maruti Suzuki recently launched the Ertiga Paseo Edition. This special edition of the Ertiga is available on the VXi and VDi trims. In Paseo Edition guide, the MPV gains a cart load of equipment. Here’s the full list of accessory additions. A cool/warm box, digital tyre inflator, new seat covers, cushions, a steering cover, a high speed USB charger, a hands free Bluetooth kit, scuff plates, and new floor mats are the additional features on the inside. On the outside, a roof spoiler, rear parking sensors and blacked out C-Pillars are the other changes. The MPV’s special edition model is available in silver and white paint shades. The engines and gearboxes remain unchanged.
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Diesel Hybrid
Maruti Suzuki just hybridized the Ciaz diesel sedan in India. The car now delivers better mileage than before, what with the ARAI certified fuel efficiency number standing at 28.09 Kmpl. The Ciaz mild hybrid is available only on the diesel powered variants. The hybrid system consists of brake energy regeneration, an electric motor that assists the engine during acceleration and a idle stop mechanism. The Ciaz Diesel Hybrid is priced slightly lower than the regular diesel variants, which have now been discontinued.
Renault Duster Explore
The Explore edition is one of the best looking Dusters that Renault has sold in India. The limited edition variant is sold in RxL trim on the 85 PS and 110 PS diesel engined versions of the Duster. In terms of exterior changes, the front grille and rear chrome strip on the hatch lid get darkened, a bull bar with driving lights, GT stripes on the hood, decals on the doors and anthracite alloy wheels are visual changes. On the inside, the seats get a dual tone finish for the upholstery, the steering wheel gets leather wrapped while orange and satin inserts make it to the dashboard, instrument cluster, center console and door panels.
Skoda Rapid Anniversary Edition
Skoda has brought out yet another anniversary edition of the Rapid sedan. The changes on the exteriors of the car are limited. Decals on the doors and a contrast black paint job for the roof are the two visual changes. On the inside, wood trim and twin airbags are now standard. The Elegance Plus variant gets a TrackPro car tracking system, which will allow the owner of the car to configure many details such as vehicle trip history, SMS alerts in case of car over speeding, being towed or exiting a preset boundary, and of course details on when the system is disconnected or reconnected. The Rapid Anniversary Edition starts at 6.99 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi.
Volkswagen Polo
The Polo now has more equipment than before. Volkswagen has added equipment across the variant line up. The Trendline variants get wing mirrors with turn indicators while the Comfortline variant gets a cooled glovebox. In addition to the cooled glovebox, the highline variants get electrically foldable wing mirrors and cruise control. The GT TDI and TSI variants also gain all the equipment that is now available on the Highline trim.
Hyundai i20 Elite Anniversary Edition
Basking on the Elite i20’s success here, Hyundai has introduced an anniversary edition of the hatchback. The anniversary edition of the Elite i20 is available with the 1.2 liter petrol and the 1.4 liter turbo diesel engines. The hatchback’s Sportz variant gets additional features in the form of 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, contrast roof, blacked out B and C pillar, decals on the flanks, a special edition badge at the rear, a 2-DIN music system with Bluetooth, six speakers and climate control. Floor mats, seat covers, door sill plates, and parcel tray are dealer level fitments. Notably, Hyundai has now introduced a touchscreen equipped audio, video and navigation interface on the top end variants of the i20 Elite and the i20 Active.
Maruti Swift SP Limited Edition

The best selling Maruti Suzuki Swift now gets a limited edition dubbed the SP. The SP limited edition variant is based on the LXi and LDi trims. The new edition adds wheel covers, fog lamps, blacked out A-pillar, body colored wing mirrors and an ‘SP’ sticker on the driver’s door. Changes are more comprehensive on the inside. A 4-speaker audio system with Bluetooth, reverse parking sensors, SP branded cushions with memory foam, new seat fabric, a steering wheel cover, power assist for all four windows, central locking with keyless entry and 60:40 rear split seats are additional features on the SP badged LDi and LXi trims. The SP edition’s prices start at 5.15 lakh rupees.
