7 upcoming cars & SUVs in May 2017

Now that we have entered the next financial year, car manufacturers are getting ready to launch new vehicles. We have already seen few impactful launches in 2017. Here are seven more new cars and SUVs that will launch in May of this year.

Maruti DZire

Maruti recently showcased the all-new DZire and had confirmed that the new sedan would launch on 16th May. The all-new DZire is built on the Baleno platform and sheds a lot of weight. The new car also feature LED projector lamps with LED DRLs and tail lamps. It looks way more premium now.

While Maruti has not changed the engine options, the car will now get AMT with both petrol and diesel engine options. The new DZire offers a touch-screen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. The new car will also offer more space compared to the current model.

Toyota Innova Touring Sport

The highly successful Innova will get a sporty variant on May 4. The new special edition vehicle will become the top variant in the line-up and will offer a lot of cosmetic changes. The Touring Sport variant will come with a new front lip, reshaped wheel arches, side skirts and a roof spoiler. The wing mirrors have been updated too.

At the rear, the Innova Touring Sport will get new exhaust tip, chrome strip on the tailgate. The vehicle will also get 17-inch gunmetal-finish alloy wheels. On the inside, the new variant will get black leather seats, exclusive floor carpets but the equipment will same as the Z variant of the Innova Crysta. The car will be powered by 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine churning out 172 Bhp-360 Nm. Toyota could offer both 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes.

Isuzu MU-X

The Isuzu MU-X will replace the MU-7 in the company’s line-up. The MU-X is a bang-for-buck SUV that will compete against the Toyota Fortuner. The flagship SUV is built on the I-GRIP platform and features 4X4 transfer case with the shift-on-the-fly feature. The MU-X offers brutish looks with curvy body.

The car will be powered by a 3.0-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum of 177 Bhp. Isuzu is expected to offer both manual and automatic transmissions with the model. The MU-X will be launched on May 11. Prices are expected to start from 20 lakh rupees.

Volkswagen Tiguan

Volkswagen announced that the production of its flagship SUV, Tiguan has started in India. The good looking SUV features LED headlamps, touchscreen-based infotainment system and safety features like ABS+EBD and airbags.

The 5-seat SUV is built on Volkswagen’s MQB platform that also underpins the Skoda Octavia in India. The Tiguan will be offered with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum of 143 Bhp. The Tiguan will also offer seven-speed DSG transmission and AWD as optional features.

Chevrolet Beat

Chevrolet will launch the all-new Beat next month. It will be company’s first car launch since the Cruze facelift. The new Beat will feature new headlamps, new grille, new bumper and new fog lamp housing. The Beat has become sportier than before with the new updates. The car also gets a new tail lamp cluster, boot lid and bumpers.

The new Beat will feature MyLink2 infotainment system that offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is also an all-new dashboard. The current engine options will continue with the new Beat. There will be 1.2-litre petrol churning 79 Bhp-108 Nm and 1.0-litre diesel producing a maximum of 57 Bhp – 150 Nm of torque.

Renault Duster CVT

Renault currently offers Duster automatic with only the diesel engine option. The company will launch the petrol automatic version next month. The current 1.6-litre K4M petrol engine offered with the Duster comes only with the Efficient Dual-Clutch (EDC) gearbox in the international market.

The gearbox is quite expensive for the price sensitive Indian market. Renault is planning to put a new 1.6-litre H4K engine in the Duster, which can be mated to a CVT. The petrol automatic version will be offered only in the higher RxL and RxZ trims.

Lexus LX

After a long anticipation, Lexus made its Indian debut last month with two launches. The company launched the ES350h sedan and RX450h mid-size SUV. The premium Japanese brand will launch its flagship model the LX450d next month.

The premium SUV is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser LC200, but more premium and luxurious parts have been used in the Lexus SUV. The car is powered by a 4.5-litre V8 engine that produces a maximum of 272 Bhp. The bookings have already started for the vehicle, and it is expected to be priced at around Rs. 2 crores.
