A lot of manufacturers launched all-new products in 2017. Replacement models like Hyundai Verna and Maruti Dzire got huge applause from the market. In 2018, the trend of bringing in all-new cars will continue. Here are 8 all-new vehicles that will replace the current generation of vehicles.
The all-new Swift has been officially unveiled in India and it will be launched at the Auto Expo. The Swift gets the same engines as the last generation but because of the lighter body, the performance and the fuel efficiency have gone up.
The all-new Swift also gets features like projector LED headlamps, touch-screen infotainment and larger cabin space. Maruti will also offer AMT automatic transmission for the first time in the Swift. Prices are likely to stay similar to the previous generation model.
Expected launch: Mid-2018
Maruti is testing the new Ertiga in India. The all-new Ertiga will be based on a new HEARTECT platform that also underpins the modern Maruti cars. The car is expected to be lighter and more spacious than the current model.
The new Ertiga is expected to be powered by a new M15A 1.5-litre that generates 108 Bhp – 138 Nm. The diesel engine is also expected to be a new 1.4-litre unit that is being developed by Maruti. We may see the MPV at the Auto Expo 2018.
Expected launch: First quarter 2018
The Amaze sedan marked Honda’s debut in diesel segment in India. Honda is now preparing the all-new Amaze that will be launched next year in India. The new Amaze has been spied at Honda’s Tapukara plant and is expected to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. The car will become roomier but will remain under the 4-meter mark.
Honda is also expected to put a more powerful version of the 1.5-litre diesel engine, but the 1.2-litre petrol engine is expected to remain same. It will also get a number of new features like climate control, new infotainment system among others. The launch is expected to happen in the first quarter of this year.
Expected launch: End 2018
Honda will bring in the all-new fifth generation CR-V in India next year. The all-new CR-V is already available in the international markets, and Honda will launch the new version in the segment dominated by the Toyota Fortuner. The new CR-V looks much sleeker than the current version and gets a thick slat grille, similar to the current generation of Honda vehicles.
The CR-V that will come to India will be ASEAN-spec, which means it will get an extra row of front facing seats taking the total number of seats to seven. Honda will also launch the diesel version of the CR-V with a 1.6-litre diesel engine that will be made in India. The engine produces a maximum power of 158 Bhp and peak torque of 350 Nm. The car is expected in the second half of 2018.

Maruti WagonR has been around for a long time now. In 2018, the car is expected to be replaced by an all-new model. The new car has been launched in the Japanese market but the Indian vehicle can be a lot different from the international model. The car will retain the engine and transmission options but will get an all-new interior too. Maruti will continue to offer petrol and CNG options alongside AMT automatic transmission.
Expected launch: Late 2018
Nissan is working on an all-new Sunny that will be launched later this year. The car will be based on the modified version of Nissan Micra platform (K14) with an extended wheelbase. This will be India specific Sunny as it will be different from the global car that will be based on the V-Platform.
Nissan will power the new-generation Sunny with the 1.5-litre H4K petrol engine that is found in the Renault Duster. The four-cylinder engine produces a maximum power of 104 Bhp. However, the diesel engine might be omitted from the new Sunny.
Mahindra TUV 300 Plus
Expected launch: February 2018
Mahindra has already started delivering TUV 300 Plus in a few cities. The car is yet to be launched in the other parts of the country. The TUV 300 Plus is an extended wheelbase version of the TUV 300 and is expected to replace the Mahindra Xylo.
The longer body now measures at 4.4-meters and it gets three rows of seats that can seat up to 9 people depending on the configuration chosen by the customer. The car is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk turbocharged diesel engine that generates a maximum of 120 Bhp – 280 Nm. The prices in Trichy, TN starts at Rs. 9.46 lakh, ex-showroom.
Expected launch: Festive season 2018
Renault sells the Duster under the Dacia brand in the international markets. The compact SUV received an update earlier this year, but the launch has been delayed due to the arrival of the Captur. The new Duster is expected to be launched sometime in the middle of this year.
The new Duster gets a new grille and a repositioned windscreen that adds a fresh look to it. The interiors have also been thoroughly updated to give a modern look. Renault may continue to use the current engine options with the upcoming Duster.
