8 new Tata cars & SUVs for India with launch timelines: Nexon AMT & Tiago JTP to H5X & 45X

Tata Motors is going through a transformation and it is showing on the brand’s sales chart. With the cars like Tiago and Nexon, Tata Motors is attracting a lot of customers. In the near future, the manufacturer is expected to launch many new cars. Here’s a brief of Tata cars launching in the future.

Tata Nexon AMT

Expected launch: May 2018

Tata showcased the Nexon AMT at the 2018 Auto Expo and as per latest reports, the bookings have been already opened for the vehicle unofficially at a payment of Rs. 11,000. However, Tata delayed the launch of the automatic version and it will now launch in May. Both petrol and diesel engine versions will get the AMT automatic 6-speed transmission but the engines will remain untouched.

The Nexon, which is already gaining popularity in the market is expected to get bring in more numbers with the introduction of the AMT. Interestingly, the Vitara Brezza, which is the highest selling model in India does not get an option of automatic transmission.

Tata Tigor JTP

Expected launch: June/July 2018

Tata showcased the performance sedan, Tigor JTP at the Auto Expo. The car has been developed with the Jayem Auto and will be launched in the Indian market. The Tigor JTP will be the cheapest hot sedan available in the Indian market. It gets a lowered suspension, new air dams, air scoops on the bonnet, new smoked headlamps and a body kit. The body kit consists of side-skirt and rear diffuser.

The car uses the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that goes into the Nexon but additional changes have been done to the intake and the exhaust system to improve the performance. The power output is rated at 108 Bhp and 150 Nm and it gets the 5-speed manual transmission.

Tata Tiago JTP

Expected launch: June/July 2018

Tata earlier confirmed that they are working on a hot version of the Tiago instead of the Bolt. The Tiago JTP was finally showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Tiago JTP also carries the similar changes like the Tigor JTP. It gets smoked headlamps, bonnet scoops, body kit and rear diffuser.

Tata has also painted the ORVMs in a contrasting red colour and the roof in black colour to add a sporty look. Engine-wise, the car will be powered by the same 1.2-litre REVOTRON turbo-petrol engine that powers the Nexon. It generates similar 108 Bhp and 150 Nm in the JTP twins.

Tata 45X

Expected launch: Late 2019

the 45X made its global debut at the 2018 Auto Expo in India. This will be first ever premium hatchback from Tata and will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 in the market. The 45X will be powered by Tiago’s engines but will be more powerful with VGT (variable geometry turbocharger). It will get 6-speed transmission and may also get a dual-clutch transmission.

Tata H5X

Expected launch: Mid 2019

The H5X concept was revealed at the 2018 Auto Expo and it was quite a stunner. Tata’s head designer claims that the car production vehicle will be about 80% similar to the concept. It will be underpinned by Land Rover Discovery Sport’s L8 platform. The SUV is also expected to get a long list of features, similar to the Tata Hexa. It will be powered by the same 2.0-litre Multijet engine that powers the Jeep Compass but it will get a different state of tune. It will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta in the market and is expected to be launched by 2019.

Tata Tiago EV

Expected launch: September/October 2018

Tata showcased the Tiago EV at the Auto Expo. This is the first time Tata showcased the electric version of the hatchback in India. Last year, the company showcased the car in the UK at an event. Tata is yet to reveal the powertrain that it will use in the hatchback. However, a 3-phase AC motor is expected to be in the vehicle that will generate around 40 Bhp. It will be produced at the Sanand plant in Gujarat and will be launched later this year.

Tata Tigor EV

Expected launch: September/October 2018

Tata also showcased the sedan Tigor EV at the event. It is the same car that Tata is supplying to the ESSL through a contract that it won last year. However, details about the powertrain are not out yet. The Tigor EV sedan is already in production but it is not known if there will be a different version for the private consumers or it will be the same car. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 11 lakh.

Tata eVision

Expected launch: 2020

The EV showcased at the Geneva motor show and attracted a lot of applause. The car will be an all-electric vehicle that will be launched in the Skoda Superb segment. The eVision can do 300 km on a full charge and can reach 200 km/h of top speed. It is also quite quick and can do 0-100 km/h in just 7 seconds. The production version of the vehicle will be quite different from the concept model.
