A closer look at Salman Khan”s bullet-proof Nissan Patrol on video

Since Bollywood actor Salman Khan received death threats from a notorious gangster, his security has significantly increased. Previously, he travelled in a fully-armoured previous-generation Toyota Land Cruiser wherever he went in Mumbai. Recently, he acquired a brand-new fully-armoured Nissan Patrol.

The Nissan Patrol is a fully-armoured SUV, just like his previous-generation Toyota Land Cruiser LC200. The Patrol has additional protection for its door panels and thickened window panels, which are visible in a walkaround video uploaded on the YouTube channel ‘Cars For You’. However, it is unclear what additional equipment this Nissan Patrol has, apart from the aforementioned details.

It is worth noting that the Nissan Patrol is not officially available in India. However, this fully-armoured unit of the Patrol has been imported from one of the right-hand drive markets where this SUV is on sale. We expect that the Patrol may have been imported from its home market in Japan, which like India, is a right-hand drive market.

The Nissan Patrol is one of the most exclusive SUVs one can spot in India. Although it is not available officially, a few Indians have imported this range-topping luxury SUV from Nissan. This hugely popular SUV worldwide is the best from Nissan’s SUV portfolio, and like the Land Cruiser, is a full-sized ladder-on-frame luxury SUV.

Powered by a massive 5.6-litre V8

Powering this generation of the Nissan Patrol is a 5.6-liter naturally-aspirated V8 petrol engine, which produces 400 PS of maximum power output and 560 Nm of maximum peak torque output. Due to the massive V8 construction of this engine, the Nissan Patrol already suffers from a low fuel efficiency figure. However, due to the additional weight gained because of fully-armoured construction, Salman’s Nissan Patrol should have even lower fuel efficiency.

Globally, Nissan has made this generation of the Patrol available for a few years now. However, the Indian market has not officially received it yet. Nissan showcased this SUV a few years ago with the intention of launching it officially in India. However, the Japanese carmaker backed off from this plan, citing low volumes of the SUV. Nonetheless, Nissan is currently working on bringing a few of its compact SUVs from its global portfolio, which is expected to arrive in India in the next couple of years.

Despite being a superstar, Salman Khan has recently received praise for his austerity. However, the actor’s collection of premium luxury cars for his daily rides is quite impressive. In his garage, Khan boasts a Range Rover Autobiography, Audi RS7, Mercedes AMG GLE 63 S, Mercedes Benz GL-Class, Mercedes Benz S-Class, Lexus LX 470, Audi A8, and Porsche Cayenne.

Interestingly, a few years ago, he was also seen driving around in a heavily modified Maruti Suzuki Gypsy. This white-coloured vehicle has undergone several off-road modifications such as an off-road spec bumper, a bullbar, a front tow hook, an electric winch, LED auxiliary lamps, and aftermarket headlamps.
