Bollywood movie star Aamir Khan has added a rather humble motorcycle to his garage. The bike in question is the Bajaj V15, a 150 cc commuter bike that Bajaj markets in India as an urban runabout.
Of all bikes, why did Aamir Khan choose the V15?
The V15’s fuel tank has a minute amount of metal from the INS Vikrant, a decommissioned battleship of the Indian Navy. This is said to be the reason behind Aamir Khan choosing to bring the Bajaj V15 home. It’s said that the actor placed an order for the V15 on his own, following which Rajiv Bajaj of Bajaj Auto decided to intervene, and make the bike even more special.
The Bajaj supremo contacted Aamir, asking him about the kind of customization he wanted, and that’s how the custom-built V15 was born. This one-off motorcycle’s tank features the letter a while the “chote lal” graphic adorns the rear seat cowl.
The Bajaj V15 features a 150 cc four stroke engine that puts out about 12 Bhp and 13 Nm. A five speed manual gearbox is standard on this motorcycle. The motorcycle’s unique selling point is its relaxed riding position, meaty front forks and a fat rear tyre. Essentially, the V15 is a muscular commuter bike that’s trying to add a cruiser-like appeal.
