The Activa-based Honda Grazia has sold over 50,000 units in 2.5 months of its launch in the Indian market. The most-premium automatic scooter from Honda, the Grazia is also the sharpest looking model in the Japanese scooter giant’s Indian line-up. Priced at Rs. 58,133, ex-showroom Delhi, it sits at the top of Honda’s scooter portfolio. Competitors to the Grazia in terms of pricing include the Suzuki Access 125, another 125cc automatic scooter that is very popular among Indian buyers.
The Grazia is powered by a 125cc four stroke engine that produces of 8.5 Bhp peak power and 10.5 Nm of peak torque. This engine is shared with the Honda Activa 125. The Grazia also shares its frame and cycle parts with the Activa. However, the styling is totally new, and is youth-centric. The LED headlamp is a segment-leading feature. Electric start is standard. 12-inch steel wheels shod with tubeless tyres and drum brakes at the front and rear are standard on the base variant while the Deluxe variant adds alloy wheels and a front disc brake.
Honda’s combi-braking system, which activates both the front and rear brakes with the press of a single lever (either front or back brake lever) is standard on all variants of the Grazia. Another interesting feature on this scooter is the tachometer, which is unseen on most automatic Indian scooters. Telescopic front forks and a monoshock rear shock absorber are the suspension compoents on the Grazia, which weighs 107 Kgs. Competition to the Grazia could increase greatly this year as a lot of scooter makers are planning maxi scooters for the Indian market.
Many of the upcoming scooters will be shown at the 2018 Auto Expo. Suzuki is expected to launch the Burgman 125 this year while Aprilia has already started shipping out the SR125 to dealerships. Even Hero MotoCorp is expected to launch a new 125cc scooter while TVS Motors will soon launch the Graphite – a sharply styled 150cc scooter.
